Is anyone else finding their toddler is going through a massive peak of separation anxiety particularly around bedtime recently? Just a couple of months ago I could put my LG down awake, say goodnight and leave her be now most times she screams and seems actually stressed about it rather than like tantruming. It takes us at least an hour to get her down most evenings and we’re exhausted! It’s past 10:30pm and we’re still at it tonight 🙃

Yep, it is so frustrating. We started this way back in August. It is exhausting. I find when we stick to a routine and start a little earlier we have better success. We start with a bottle and a cuddle on the sofa and watch the adventures of Winni the Pooh. Then teeth brushed and to bed where we turn the lights low and I read a story. Many nights now he falls asleep to my reading, but it was not always like that and there is clear evidence of us camping out on the floor just so everyone can get some sleep.

I think we must be going through some separation anxiety atm, she would normally go down happily however for the past 5 nights she’s cried as soon as I leave the room

Same for us! My LO would cry as soon as I leave the room. Now when I her down for the night, I leave the room, when she cries go back again and cuddle her and repeat… until she falls asleep and it worked very well. I think she understood this way that I was always going to come back
