The potty training guide we used suggests starting naked, then transitioning to loose pants with no undies, since undies can feel too similar to a diaper. That phase can last as long as needed before introducing undies. Worked for us!
@Erica that’s a good idea! We are almost fully trained in the undies so I won’t go back now but I can see how that would be a good transition
Thanks for posting. I’m in the same boat! Actually, we’re having a hard time pooping as well, but she now knows it’s better to go in the potty than in the pull-up or on the floor 🥴. I was told to try plastic underwear vs any underwear with padding or proofing so that they feel when accidents happen. I’m also having trouble getting her to pull her pull-up up and down, but we’re working on it. Next step will be going to the potty through the night—and getting her daycare to take her to the potty as well so that all this training isn’t in vain.
Dealing with the exact same situation! It took me days just to get our girl to poop on the potty. She will go by herself now but only if she’s naked waist down.
@Erica that worked for us too

We have been dealing with the same thing but he is getting better each day. I think it will just take time when you put the underwear on him. What has helped me is to automatically take him to the potty about every 30 mins or so when he has undies on and keep reminding him he pees in the potty not in his undies.he still has accidents when in undies but often goes several hours without any accidents when wearing all of his clothes and at playgroup (this is when I take him to the potty in intervals).
