Weird families…

So I’m 37, married and already have an almost three year old. Told my parents that we are pregnant again yesterday and they didn’t say a word. The only question was “when is it due”. Their tone didn’t change, they didn’t say congratulations, didn’t ask how I felt, absolutely nothing.

I’m not surprised that this was their response, it was exactly the same for the first child but I’m still upset. Does anyone else have a family that has zero reaction to big life events?

In two mins weather to say something but I know they would just lie to me anyway, so not sure it’s actually worth hurting my feelings for.

Speak your peace but I feel like if they told you congratulations after that it would only be because you told them it made you feel bad. That’s what I would think anyway.
With our first everyone was excited but with our second my in laws just said “oh well we knew that was going to happen” like 🙈 what?? 🤣

Just don't tell them anything anymore. You can't change people, parents or not just say F it and tell them nothing or if they ask tell them the bare minimum

Well firstly congratulations mama a new adventure is about to begin!

Secondly if it makes you feel better then ask them sometimes it’s better to just get it off your chest or it’ll just eat away at you even though you think they might lie or you just accept the fact they’re just not excited and you focus on your little family who I’m sure are gonna be mega excited

Congratulations mama for another blessing in your family.
Girl I feel you my ones are exactly the same, no expression whatsoever but they love their grandson ♥️

maybe she's just worried about u being pregnant at 43 but still yeah the way they show their emotions it's hurtful but u know I learned how to deal with that with therapy so then I don't feel like shit after the announcements

First of all congratulations!!! You deserve to be happy and feel all the joy that this news brings!

I am also expecting my second baby, found out when my first was 5 months old so will have 14 months age gap.

My in laws are exactly like that, there is zero reaction to anything and everything is always met with a neutral tone. It drives me nuts. My mother in law did NOT smile at our wedding!
My own family is usually pretty intense with showing emotions but for some reason with this one the immediate reaction I got from my mom was “isn’t it too early?????”

Anyway, I was hurt from both sides but you know what, you just have to find your happiness in your own little bubble with your husband and your babies. That’s what I’m doing now and I’m way happier… they are the ones that are missing out..

@Katie agree completely. It hurts not to have the love/support you expect from certain people but we can find joy elsewhere and still be joyful ourselves

They’ll lie if I try and talk to them. They’ll say they are excited when in reality they’ll be trash talking me behind my back. We do have a good relationship but their behaviour is odd and unpleasant.

I do wonder about the neurodiverse. I barely hear anything nice from their mouths about anyone, they’re rather negative and love to slag people off. So either neurodiverse and not knowing how to act or just generally awful people.

They’ve got friends and they’re always off doing things so who knows. They wouldn’t ever call me to see how I am and they’re generally not interested in my life. They do love being grandparents though. They’ll play nicely with my son, they just won’t help with any care like changing nappies or nap time.

5 month old activities

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?
