I don't really have a bad relationship with my BF's mom, I'm usually just cool with her not until when I had my son, that's when I started not liking her.
Just a background about the BFs mom, she has a controlling and bossy personality, she can also be overbearing, coz I've witnessed that on how she can be bossy and overbearing to the parents of her first grandchild.
There was just a comment/statement that she made when I was still in the hospital, she said, "thank you for my grandson". When she told me that, I just smiled but felt so awkward to say anything, coz i felt like why are you thanking me like as if my son is like a present that I am giving to you, kinda made me feel like I was a human incubator for you. I just wanna know what others would feel if your partner's mom or mil will tell you that?

You sure we don’t share a MIL? Stupid lady said that to me when I announced my second pregnancy. I haven’t trusted her ever since.

I think you’re just taking it the wrong way tbh. My FIL is similar in the comments where he says things that you’re kinda like rephrase that or something. But he’s literally thanked me for each child I’ve had. *hopefully* she truly was thanking you for bringing her another healthy grand child into the world. As mothers we go through a lot to bring our children into the world and she knows that first hand. I think you automatically assumed it was negative because you’ve watched her be a certain way with whomever else on top of exhaustion from just having the baby and hormones being wildly out of whack. Give her the benefit of the doubt but also watch your back since you know she can be some type of way.

My FIL said the same thing to me after I had my daughter. I shrugged and said, "It was an accident." 😂 (It actually was, we weren't trying for a kiddo, but we're overjoyed to get one.)
i know she means well, but shes really some type of way. First, when we announced my pregnancy, she was so insisting to my bf to get married first before i give birth, she is a christian & a pastor. Then wen my son was born, she's so overbearing giving so much unsolicited advice & demanding or telling things that needs to be done for d baby to my bf. She believes in old school ways & thinks bec she raised 4 kids, her ways r d best ways. I know that whatever she is telling my bf, those things are for me since we are not close & she can't directly talk to me. I am standing my ground and did not follow or listen to any of her advice because I dont believe in them lol. Its just so annoying that I am distancing myself to her because of her behavior, shes interfering and not allowing us to adopt and learn as a first time parent. That's why I am also not gonna trust her baby sitting my kid, coz I have a feeling that she wont respect bounderies or listen to my instructions and will just do things as she please
maybe we do 😂 I don't trust her with my kid either

Mine also thanked me at time of announcement of pregnancy and made it about her saying this is a part of me! Felt so awkward as I thought it’s in my tummy not yours! x

Hmm I wonder if this is generational? My mil said the exact same thing about my daughter! I felt so awkward and didn’t know what to say so I just smiled. Never came up again, and we have some boundaries, so all relatively good I’d say. But I agree what an odd thing to say

That’s just weird to say. And why another mil who is overbearing and controlling. Ugh. We have enough in the world. LOL! Also, I got along fine with my mil until I had my first son. Seems to be a trigger for their crazy to come out. My mil was mad she wasn’t seeing her grandson on a weekly basis. 😳 I told my husband she knows she isn’t the mom right I am.

My mother in laws sister said the same to me. It was soooo weird and I was baffled as I thought ermmm I didn’t have my baby for you. She’s mine, not yours lol but I just learned to ignore it all and not let it bother me. 😆
At the end of the day she’s my baby and I’ve made that clear to everyone that feels like they’re entitled to share their opinion on my baby.
