You had your baby already or you’re pregnant still ?

It does get easier. Once you get yourselves in some form of routine, things start to work better I'm 2 weeks in and we now manager to have 4hrs sleep from 2am - 6am which is a blessing. Xx

Avatar

Well my baby only a week old , me and my partner have kind of routine at night where she only wake up 2 times a day at nights

Avatar

I’ve had my baby

Avatar

thank you for the reassurance!! Last night she let me sleep for about 3/4 ish hours but tonight she is soo much worse. It doesn’t seem like it’s getting any better

Avatar

did she cluster feed at any point

Avatar

Mine is feeding soo much it’s so painful, when she’s not feeding she just screams for no reason at the top of her lungs and I can’t calm her down. She falls asleep on my chest which I obviously can’t keep her there as it’s unsafe, but as soon as she goes in the crib she screams. Her nappy is clean, she’s winded and my boobs are right there but she just screams. I can barely keep my eyes open and I’m worried that I’ll fall asleep and put her in danger

Avatar

Sometime I can’t get her to sleep like she wide awake , she is getting better at night sleeping for longer hours

Avatar

Could you maybe try a bottle of formula before bed? I’ve read a lot of people on here say that they stay fuller for longer/don’t wake as much with formula so will go longer between feeds

Avatar

I was hoping to exclusively breast feed but honestly if it doesn’t get any better I might try that. Thank you x

You may need to stop eating dairy??..
I really don't know if that's the case or not but I have heard of many women that have this issue you're speaking of and it's because the baby was lactose intolerant and the mom was eating dairy..
Maybe it's worth a try..
So sorry you're going through this and just know it will get better!! 🄰

I’m 2 weeks in and it definitely gets better! Me and my partner have a system where he looks after baby from 7- 1am and I’ll be going to sleep at that point. I then take over from 1-6am so he can sleep.

Avatar

The second night (when he was 3 days old was the worst) for us too! We thought he didn’t like his Moses basket as he just wouldn’t go down.
If you want to exclusively breastfeed please stick at it! It does get better!
My husband sometimes takes him to calm him down before feeding him.
You got this mama!

It’s completely normal unfortunately, look up the 4th trimester . Baby has just come out of a cosy womb and this outside world is new and scary and all they know is you. Introducing a bottle of formula won’t necessarily help them sleep any longer. My son is two weeks old and won’t settle in his crib yet so I’m having to sleep with him on my chest, it can be done safely as can bed sharing, look at this info https://www.instagram.com/p/CwQeT9Hvokr/?igsh=MWk2OHFncmNseWFxdA==

Completely normal, especially as you’re breastfeeding. Cluster feeding is what brings your milk supply in and to the level baby needs. It is so difficult in those early days but there’s very little you can do about it, baby has no idea they’re separate from you for quite a while yet and it’s so normal for them to want to be held. It’s a huge change for them too. Can you and your partner take shifts holding baby (when not feeding obviously) so you can each try to get a couple of hours’ rest? Alternatively you could look into safe co-sleeping if it’s all that helps. It’s one of those things that most parents don’t plan to do before baby comes but end up doing out of exhaustion. It’s much safer to plan for it than to just fall asleep because you’re so tired and baby is in an unsafe situation. It will get easier ā¤ļø

Also, if it helps at all, with my first I fell asleep breastfeeding while sitting up in bed SO maybe times, out of sheer exhaustion. I’d deliberately sit in uncomfortable positions to try to stay awake and somehow manage to fall asleep holding him. It’s obviously not advised and it’s not safe sleep, but it happens and doesn’t make you a bad mum if you do it. Every time I would wake up after about an hour and be in exactly the same position, holding him just as close as when awake, my arms never relaxed an inch. Mum instincts are strong!! You’re doing great

I had to top up with formula as he screamed so bad on night 3. I honestly felt like you, I’m day 5 now and last night I managed to get 2 blocks of 3 hours sleep. He actually settled in his crib for the first time. It will get better 😘

I read if you put a heating pad in the babys bed and heat it to your temperature then remove the heating pad and lay the baby down it helps them to stay because they don't notice the temperature change.
Hope this helps!!

I'm in the same boat, I'm still in hospital and she's sleeping in the day and up all night but I can't get sleep in the day 😭

My baby is now nearly 3 weeks old and I’ve been there - it does get better 🩷 we have started swaddling and popping baby into a Purflo in the next to me, this helps to get a few solid hours x

Thank you so much for the reassurance and advice girls!!! I really appreciate it and glad that I’m not alone. We’ve got this šŸ’—šŸ’—

majority of newborns have this issue where their days and nights are confused!!
I've noticed it usually gets better around month two or if not, definitely three!!

Newborn sweating

My 10 day old seems to be sweating through his onesies. His nappies are dry when we change him. The temp of the room and his temp are monitored. These last few nights when I'm getting him out of his bassinet he's damp. We've taken a layer of him but we're in one layer and don't want him to be cold. Has anyone else experienced this?

Further scans/labour induction

Hi All, I am 37 weeks and 4days pregnant. I have no signs of labour yet. The last scan was at 34weeks and the midwife suggested that no further scans are required.

My question is - Do I have to reach out to the hospital closer to the date or will they get in touch with me ?

Thanks in advance.

First kick!!!

Omg the ā€œThere’s an actual baby in meā€ moment just happened.
So I’m laying in bed and I feel this hard lump at my pelvic area, not once but twice. At first I thought it was gas but gas moves so I brushed it off. After the second time I’m like okay what’s going on and of course Dr.Google popped up. A few minutes later, I feel a quick ā€œpopā€ and at that moment I’m like okay time to get up. I went to my mom and told her hey your grandson just kicked me for the first time because apparently he’s not comfortable lol.

Trapped wind after C-section

Ladies I had a C-section a week ago and I am in agony with trapped wind. Helpful tips would be greatly appreciated ā™„ļø

Did you follow all of the guidelines after having a baby?

If no what did you not follow?

I also get its survivor bias so I’m not saying I was right to do these things.

1. My babies all slept with blanket/comforter from early on. They also all were sleeping through from an early age.

2. I had a bath a couple of days after my c section.

I’m sure there were more but these two are the ones that stand out 🫣
