My husband always acts like the most doting father when anyone is around yet I do 99.9% of the parenting even on then 4 days he's home from work. He always says he or we were doing something with the baby when she did a new skill or something to his parents when it was always me. Does anyone else's husbands do this?? It annoys me because I spend my days with our daughter trying to play with her and teach her new things, cook her new foods etc and he never gives me credit for anything (and neither do they). Just today I asked him to hold the baby while I had a quick lunch and he facetimed his parents straight away. I overheard him at one point say WE were practising clapping yesterday with our daughter and she's starting to clap back. He wasn't even there, he was in the bedroom taking a nap while I was feeding her and doing it with her! His family always say how lucky I am he's so hands on with the baby and never acknowledge me or anything good I ever do. It makes me so angry!

Mine doesnt girl. There’s something wrong with him. I don’t think starting an argument by calling him out is your best option. Try talking to him. It sounds cliche but it might help. It worked with me. Or let him take care of her himself. I did it and told him I was going to my family’s. I came back and he apologized profoundly and now he does the dishes and helps me clean whenever possible as well as letting me eat first while he holds my baby

I can relate to this and it’s the most infuriating thing

Yeah my husband did until I called him out.
He did a slight complain to BIL & SIL (his brother) about wishing he could have a sleep in. I replied with ‘stop setting an alarm then because you don’t ever wake up with him’
And MIL asked if we had any differences in parenting, my reply ‘wouldn’t matter I do it all anyways’
Call him out, he doesn’t get to take praise for the things you do. If he did it once or twice fair enough but for everything it’s ridiculous. If they want the praise tell him to get off his arse and actually do the things he’s claiming to do 😡🙄

Mine used to but it was more the way he described the things he did do so although he was pretty much doing the minimum, i.e he’d pick up the ironing one time so I could shower because I hadn’t in days, he’d tell his family he does the ironing. They’d assume all the ironing. This would add up over weeks where more and more chores added to this list. All of which he’d do once. I’d make a point of making him do baby bits in front of them. For example, I’d conveniently “need a wee” when I knew baby would need changing and then they’d realise he couldn’t even work out her rompers and they got the idea over time.

My husband doesn't do this when talking to other people. If you plan to bring this up, I'd advise asking him why it is he does/says those things when he wasn't even involved. And let him know how that hurts you when he does that. Try not to say it in a tone where he'd feel like you're wanting to fight or argue. Cause this kind of thing can end up with him resenting you and he could start being emotionally and physically abusive towards you...
The in-laws saying you're lucky that he is so hands on... seems like an odd thing to say. My guess is that they know he isn't. They know their son and likely they know he lies. So instead of calling him out in front of other people and end up with him resenting you, you could do more of just leaving him alone with the baby. Go out the house for a walk or shopping or meet up with people from the app. Actually make him be an involved parent!
