My MIL hasnt seen my little girl since she was 1 week old ( we live 5 minutes down the road ) and she is now nearly 9 months old! My partner has another daughter with somebody else the MIL sees that little girl every week and insists she has her every week and even for sleepovers but doesnt want to see my Little one.
Its starting to come between me and my partner as not only is she shunting my little girl but she has been very nasty about me and she has even bad mouthed me and my children to my partners ex! It's also got to the point where my partners child has said she wants her sister ( my little girl) to be gone and not part of the family anymore as she prefers it with nanny as her sister isnt around!!
I don't know how much more I can take as the older my little one gets she will see how her dads side grandparents are shunting her but not her sister. Luckily my parents are amazing with her and the others but I feel so disappointed how my partner isnt doing anything to stop the horrible situation!
Please tell me I'm not the only one! X

That’s horrible, and I don’t blame you for being disappointed with your partner about not doing anything - I’d be absolutely furious. Luckily I have a fine MIL , but if she was as bad as yours, and my partner didn’t step in, I don’t think I’d be able to look him in the face.
I think you should try to have a serious, sit down conversation with your partner about this, and highlight that this isn’t just about you - it’s going to have an impact on your little girl. How bad for her self esteem in the future that she is being shunned by the grandma? I’m sorry to say it , but your partner needs to step up and do right by you and his daughter!
we have had so many discussions where I have sat down and explained everything and he does the usual yes a conversation is needed but then never does it. I know he worries about confrontation but if my family were doing this I would be the first to say something.
Its definitely impacting our relationship though as I can feel myself pulling away!

I really feel for you, especially when you’ve spoken to him and he still doesn’t do anything about it. Sounds like he has a bit of an unhealthy relationship with his mother if he can’t set boundaries and have an honest conversation.
I don’t blame you for pulling away, I would be the exact same, I don’t think I’d be able to stand it . I really hope he bucks his ideas up for yours and daughter’s sake. And as for MIL, what a horrible cow! Might actually be a good thing to have your daughter well away from her, she sounds really toxic. Virtual hugs to you 🥺❤️ so sorry you’re going through this! X
thank you! It's nice to know my feelings are warranted and that I'm not over reacting as the whole thing is so toxic! ❤ x
