Initially when we first married my husband and I were on the same page. Now he says the pastors I listen to are trash and the pastors he listens to are the only pastors we should listen to in our home. I feel like there is no respect for my faith. I believe my husband sees my faith is inadequate and that I am incompetent in my beliefs. I study everyday and I feel strong in my faith and doctrine. It really hurts my feelings to be told that everything I listen to is trash. He is not a spiritual leader in our household, but he has all of these strong opinions. Every time I try to address it and tell him that I don’t feel respected when he uses strong language, the argument becomes explosive. I am not sure how to handle it.

Do you two go to church together?

I’m so sorry to hear this. What is the difference between y’all’s faith? What does he believe and what do you believe that is different?

I would pray for UNITY and for you guys to be one in all aspect, for you both to be on one accord spiritually. Ask God to convict where he is wrong and convict you where you are wrong as well. If he doesn’t lead spiritually, I would pray concerning that too. If there’s something you both don’t agree in, ask him tot each you using scripture (as Ephesians 5 tells us husbands should) and that if he has a doctrinal stance that he believes is truth to teach it to you using the word of God. Counseling and seeking spiritual guidance from leaders can help as well. The enemy will easily use this issue of double mindedness in your marriage to cause conflict and discord so I strongly suggest going into prayer about this for you guys to be on one accord

Do you guys go to church together? If not then you definitely need to, I don't see a problem listening to additional messages from other pastors all long as Jesus is the foundation. Also think youguys may need a Christian counselor at this point
Thank you, we do attend church together when he is available. He works the night shift so he misses service often. I believe our main differences are secondary beliefs such as gifts of the spirit and the spirit realm, but he won’t have a conversation so that we get on the same page again. He gets very emotional when I say anything about faith or ask him to pray. Initially he was very open and we prayed and studied together everyday. I am unsure of what is causing this huge change. I agree that we do need to find a counselor.

This is spiritual warfare sis. Which is why it’s important that you pray on his behalf, especially if he was a good spiritual leader before and now changed. It’s an attack on his walk and your marriage. So you have to deal with this in the spirit. I pray he will be opened to counseling as well and pray concerning the counseling too, that he will agree to it and that whoever will do the counseling is biblical and spirit led 🙏🏾

I would definitely advise Godly counseling! Also at my last Bible study (ladies only!) two weeks ago, I was reminded of I Peter 3:1 (NKJ), where it says “Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives.”
It was further explained that we can win them by love, emanating Christ’s unconditional love.
I hope this helps!! If you’re interested I know a Christian psychologist that has 40+ years experience in Christian counseling.
