Anyone doing a Montessori floor bed instead of a crib? Would love to see what bed model and mattress you have chosen.

we co slept til a month ago (16months)
we introduced a regular twin mattres against the wall with a foam bumper on the other side, on the floor on my side of the regular bed. hoping to move her into her own room soon enough once she’s fully weaned off BM. currently nursing 1-2x around 6am sometimes 1am
my point is just use what u got and less is more! also start by introducing early on but not exactly making them sleep alone on it so young (i liked having baby real close) especially since we shared a room for 8months while dad was deployed and i stay at my in laws

I tried it and a babysitter called CPS on us lmao. Don’t do it, it doesn’t translate like how u think it would

thanks for the advice appreciate it.

omg! That’s crazy what did they say to you? Not everyone is on board and understands what Montessori is about.

I do! We love it. We also transitioned her pretty early at around 9 months or so. Both my husband and I were really struggling with lifting her in and out of the crib. We both have some lingering back issues and found that the floor bed helped us immensely to be able to get her into bed and lay with her as we put her down for the night. She’s now 1 year and gets on and off really well. Be sure to find a bed frame with floor slats so that the mattress is elevated off the floor to prevent mold. I’ll post the link to the one we bought. There are plenty of options online.

Birch Montessori floor bed from Sprout Kids. Can turn the frame upside down to be a more elevated toddler bed as well. https://sprout-kids.com/collections/kids-beds/products/low-montessori-floor-bed-for-toddlers

thanks I’ll check out the link. What kind of mattress did you use since she was under a year. Or was a normal adult twin mattress okay to use?

we kept the crib mattress and it’s a toddler size bed. This company does make a regular twin size. I’ve seen people use either. I just didn’t want to buy a new mattress yet.
