Had usual 36 midwife appointment today and my measurement was off the chart so they referred me for a growth scan. Iāve had a couple of scans which have shown the baby to be big and on the 73rd centile but now sheās on the 85th centile with a current weight of 7lb3ozš which is what my 1st daughter was at 40 weeks!! So am I basically going to have a huge 9lb baby? Iām also having a c section due to baby being footling breech but midwife said my c section is scheduled for my due date! Do you think thereās any chance it could be changed? I always assumed they did c sections at 39 weeks! Sorry for the long post!
Just wanted some other mums opinions on the accuracy of growth scans and for those that have had c sections when are they usually done?

I wouldn't say growth scans are all that accurate all the time, they say to allow 20% error margin each way. But equally a 9lb baby isn't huge.
My first was breech, on the 92nd centile and came put at 39+3 at 9lb 3.5oz
Sections can be booked from 39 weeks, but equally can still be at 40 weeks as well x

My boy was measuring 7lb 8oz at 35 weeks (my breech midwife said these can me around 20% innacurate either side) my baby is frank breech my section is being done at 38 weeks however only reason theyāll do a section before 39 weeks is for other medical reasons and when I asked a big baby isnāt classed as a medical reason unless you have GD (i have gestational hypertension) your having a section if you get any indication of labour Iāve been told to call triage and head in as I have no intention of a breech natural birth and to go in much earlier than you would if you were intending a natural birth it just means theyāll see how fast your labouring and then get you in for an āemergency sectionā , i wouldnāt worry about babies size and 9lb isnāt huge itās just a lovely chunky baby xx

I had a Growth scan today for a potentially big baby and the sonographer said that theyāre not interested in big babies nowadays unless theyāre measuring on 96+ centile

Growth scans mean NOTHING. They C sectioned my friend saying her baby was 10lbs ( bad anyway ) her baby came out at 5lbs and wasnāt ready.

My last son was measuring on the 98th percentile.. he came out 9.4lb at 39+5

9lb isnāt huge, my lb was 9lb 1 and I had a super easy and quick 6 hour labour start to finish with no tears. Thereās no evidence now to suggest an early induction or early c section for big babies :)
