Maggie will literally put anything but what she supposed to in her mouth. Any ways of getting them to stop doing it? My mom tells me to keep telling her it’s caca.🤦🏽♀️

it’s developmental tbh. they stop on their own time. they’re just so curious at this age. and have no impulse control

so it should stop with time no matter what I do😭. She be stressing me. TY

my son is almost 2 and he still puts the most random things in his mouth it confuses me 😭😭

It’s not that they ever stop on their own. No one ever magically stopped putting stuff in their mouths we were taught other ways to interact with objects. “Not for mouth, we hold, play, look at, throw, toss etc but we don’t put in mouth” kids suck At generalization they need to be guided through it with each item. It’s not something that they are able to conceptualize off of one “don’t put THAT in your mouth”

I have no idea. My four year old still puts a bunch of stuff in his mouth.

My 5yo still puts things in his mouth, just much less often than he used to.

Also, a stressed mama here. A two year old won't eat a gourmet dinner but will get down on a 3 day old grape from in the vent. 🤮🤮 My OCD is not built for this. Needing tips as well

My babygirl is 18 months, when she has something small that she knows she’s not supposed to have in her mouth she’ll look at me and see if I’m watching her 😂
Or sometimes she’ll just come and bring it to me because she already knows better.
I always kept telling her “en la boca no” Which means “not in the mouth”, ever since she was a baby. And I’d consistently stop whatever I was doing to go and take away whatever it was she was trying to put in her mouth.
Every now and then she’ll randomly put something in her mouth that she shouldn’t and ill have to chase her down to take it away 😂 but for the most part she knows better already lol

She's 15m and only does it with objects that look like food now so that's a huge improvement 😬
Hopefully it only gets better
But apparently around 2 it gets better for most children and most completely stop by 3yrs which is why a lot of toys with choking hazards are 3+ I believe?
