AIBU!? I’m really upset right now.

I am 6 months pregnant and expecting our 4th. I woke up this morning and suggested a date night with my husband because I know the one on one is good for us.

I took the kids out from 10am this morning and it was a bit of a chaotic day and we didn’t get home till about 5pm. The kids were wild at home but I knew if I hadn’t had a rest I’d have no energy for date night, which I wanted to get some energy back so we could have a great night.

I told my husband I was having a rest and he spent 45 mins in the toilet while the kids were literally WWE smackdown-ing each other and if they weren’t doing that they were raiding the cupboards. Now this is not the behaviour I condone so obviously I couldn’t have the restful sleep I wanted.

The kids are getting babysat tonight so my mother in law came over to pick them up and was surprised that we weren’t ready and my husband thinking I was asleep swore about me and told her that he didn’t know when the f*** we were leaving because I’m sleeping. She laughed instead of defended which I feel pissed me off more.

I’m really upset by this poor form because I never speak poorly about my husband and it’s also out of character for me to jump on here and say this but I just feel like I need to be heard right now because it’s really beating me up. I called him out after they left because what grown man runs to his mum and talks negatively about his wife who clearly needs a god damn break

I’m just really feeling alone right now and I have nobody to go to, because in my mind he is my protector and if he isn’t there to protect me I literally have nobody else. My family is dysfunctional so there’s no goodness out of going there.

A bit of background, he doesn’t start his day until after I’ve gotten up and gotten the kids ready for school and I rarely come straight back home in the mornings but sometimes I come back he is still snoozing. He has the luxury of waking up and getting ready as a person without the push and pull of children needing you all the time. Me on the other hand, I wake up to demand as soon as my eyes open so this puts me constantly into a state of survival all day because it’s usually an adrenal wake up. I go to bed usually after I put the kids to bed because I’ve just been running on empty most of the time. He goes out after work and comes home at late hours. Instead of coming straight home from work he stops at the gym first. I feel that he has it too good at the moment and I’m also resenting him for that. This is more than likely the root cause to this outburst but I really felt it brewing for a while.

So I called him out to his face because I don’t need to hide behind anyone I go straight to him and said what I needed to. His responses were “f**k off with your hormones”, “I don’t care”, “I didn’t say anything wrong”. I’ve been absolutely gas lit which is pissing me the hell off. I asked him to take accountability and he turned into a coward about it. I called him disgusting because literally eww right now I don’t even want him in the house I feel like asking him to leave the premises so I can be depressed at home by myself without hearing his loud breathing and so I can take advantage of the time alone while the kids aren’t around.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, I’m so enraged on your behalf. From what you’ve described here this isn’t a partnership, he’s basically treating you as a nanny/maid he gets to have sex with. It sounds like he’s not even doing the bare minimum to contribute to your household.

Is this something you can talk to him about when you’re both calm? If he doesn’t care enough about your happiness or have the capacity to understand why this isn’t fair to you I don’t know what you can really do to improve the situation. He sounds like the kind of guy who’s wife leaves him and he tells people he has no idea what went wrong 🙄

I just want to say good job for speaking your truth and not letting him gaslight you! You did not deserve that! Honestly if he’s gaslighting you this probably isn’t the first time. And by his mom just laughing this doesn’t sound like the first time he has said something like this to her. And with him not even helping… you sound like you would be better off without him.

5 month old activities

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?
