Hi all, currently I am using medela freestyle and getting around 4oz/120ml both sides every 3 hours. I was wondering if I should buy Spectra since I have read really good reviews about it and whether it will help increase my supply? Would really appreciate your opinionsš¤

I personally am not a huge fan of my Spectra, but the only time I ever used a Medela pump was in the hospital after giving birth so I don't feel like I can accurately compare the two. For me, the Spectra just doesn't get much milk out and I find that I have to squeeze my boobs a lot while using it to get everything out. I don't know if you've ever heard of the BabyBuddha pump, but it's a portable pump that has better suction than most wall pumps. I really love my BabyBuddha and feel like it empties me out completely every time I use it! Just throwing that out there just in case you've never heard of the BabyBuddha before!

Are you getting 4oz total from both sides, or 4oz from each breast? If you are getting 4oz from each side every three hours your supply is already great and no need to increase.
I have the Medela swing maxi and my output has been great with it, but can't personally compare to other brands.
I was pumping every 3 hours and getting approx 6-8oz (total from both breasts) each pump which was plenty for baby with extra. Had to buy a large freezer which is already half full. Also stored at my in laws because we don't have space for the freezer. Cut down to pumping 6x daily at 11weeks pp (currently 13 weeks), approx every 4 hours and my supply has not dropped. Still freezing 10-20oz daily and baby drinks on average 33oz daily which has been consistent over the past month and should not increase. Looking at cutting down to 5x per 24hours at 16weeks.

Depending on your reason, unless you're wanting to donate milk there is no reason for such an oversupply. If you make what baby needs, that's enough. And any excess can be frozen into portion sized bags. I've found this easiest using the pitcher method for my milk.
If you want to increase supply, start with a few days of power pumping and stay hydrated and make sure you're eating well. Less stress and sleep is also super important for your body to do what it needs.
thank you for your input. I didnāt know about BabyBuddha before, will definitely check out this brandš¤
I am 13weeks pp as well.
I get 4oz total from both sides so I just produce enough when baby is not cluster feeding otherwise I top-up with the formula as I donāt have any extra in the freezer.
Thanks for all the tips to increase the supply, Iāll def try power pumping! š¤

Every body is different but all I can say is what I do. I drink 3-4litres water daily, eat protein every day and generally make really healthy eating choices, eat oat muesli bars (don't know if it does anything but people have sworn to me that oats were amazing for their supply, also Milo apparently if you're in Aus), and follow a somewhat strict pump schedule, including night time. I make sure I get a consecutive 4-5 hours sleep each night before my night time pump so my body is also rested.
I produce most between 3-5am so could also try power pumping in early morning when milk making hormones are highest?
Stress is a killer and I know it's easier said than done but try not to stress too much about it either. Make sure to look after yourself so you can look after baby! Good luck! š©·
you are a star! Thanks for all the tips!! ā¤ļøš«
