I’ve never been depressed or gone through anything that I can’t “bounce back from” . Lately I’ve been struggling . I’ve been a step mom for 11 years now and while there’s good moments there’s also a lot of moments that make me feel extremely resentful. Having to live life around a schedule that’s not following just to keep bm and sd happy . I DO love me sd and that’s why I’ve stayed all these years thinking things will get better as she gets older etc . Now that I have a daughter (with her dad) I find myself unhappy the majority of the time wishing I could live and experience things without the hassle of ALWAYS having to negotiate or live on someone elses standards . I feel like I’m barely getting by . I force myself to count my blessings when I’m feeling down because I know there’s always something to be grateful for . Idk if I just need to disconnect a little bit or find ways to find make myself happy but I’m struggling mentally in a way that I never have before . I’m struggling with wanting to do everyday things and just wanna be in bed or can’t wait to go to sleep . I’ll only wanna get out of bed to see my daughter or do things with her because I know she deserves a present parent .

Learn more about our guidelines.it’s not that I’m depressed about missing out on step parenting connection but more so to some extent I hate that everyone expects my daughter and I to stop living and doing things without her . It sucks , I think that’s what bothers me the most . I obviously I wouldn’t want her to feel left out but then it’s also not fair to my daughter and I to miss out on things because she’s not here often . That’s something alot of people don’t understand . And while opinions from others shouldn’t matter my husband also believes that so then that’s another layer of challenges forcing him to try and be present but then I can’t force him to do things either ..
