My little one has slept 10h 30m every night since he was 6 weeks old with the occasional 2am wake up. He only naps for 30-40 minutes, 4/5 times a day. He feeds around 8 times a day, averaging 4 ounces a feed. I see so many posts online saying that a baby shouldn’t sleep for this long at night as it’s “unsafe”. Would you class this as normal or should I try to help him nap for longer?

My LO been sleeping 7pm-6am since she was 8 weeks

My little girl sometimes sleeps 8pm-10:30am (wakes for feed at 11pm). I didn’t know it was classed as unsafe!

My health visitor has told me it’s absolutely fine for that length of sleep, and to enjoy it! She did say if they aren’t getting night feeds they might just be hungrier in the day so will have to top up abit.. but it sounds like you’re feeding well in the day. I’ve seen some comments on here suggesting that babies shouldn’t sleep long to prevent SID’s.. but I would suggest doing abit of research on what can cause SID’s because it says things like health issues, and if baby has a safe sleeping setup, etc. If those are followed I would say it’s safe, but if you’re worried maybe reach out to your health visitor lovely x

I wouldn’t be worried I would honestly just enjoy it. You’ll see so many posts of babies waking up
Constantly in the night (which is also normal). My baby will
Sometimes go through 11 hours straight and now is waking twice in the night for a feed again.
So don’t worry and enjoy the sleep!
