As an added note. Power pump to increase supply. Do not miss night pumps. Never skip pumps (at least untol your about 12 weeks in when ur supply regulates) and you can eat oats..... drink coconut water..... some people use fenugreek altho for some that has the opposite effect. Main thing is to be consistent pumping. Make sure ur parts are ok and dont need replacing etc and that you have the correct pump flange sizes but with 29oz sounds like you do! If you have to supplement a little with formula if baby does get mega hungry though. Dont beat yourself up !
Girl my baby is 9 weeks and I’m pumping 29-32oz a day. You’re fine. Keep a tight schedule early on and you’ll do great. The worst case scenario is adding supplemental feeds with formula (which tbh accepting that saved my breastfeeding journey) - now we maybe give one bottle of formula and the rest BM and he’s growing like a weed
29 oz is plenty and a normal amount for exclusively pumping. I did not get consistent good advice from my postpartum nurses at the hospital. My baby will be 4 months old tomorrow and I pump an average of 20-25 oz per day. My baby is on the much smaller side, 1st percentile, so she only drinks about 20 oz a day. The biggest key is to stay hydrated and pump on a consistent schedule. Make sure you regularly change your pump parts too. I have to replace the diaphragm and duckbill about every 3 weeks on my wearable pumps.
I will also say, in order to help get the stash that I have, I did combo feed for the first few weeks that we were home. But it wasn't entirely inconvenient since I'm fortifying my breast milk so I already had formula.
29oz is fine! Especially for 9 days pp! Ive pumped for a whole year and I always remain 1 pump ahead of baby. I did get enough at first to have a stash. I think at his most by baby would have about 40oz in a day but he was a very hungry boy! You can build on your supply and increase it if you need to by power pumping. You do not have to breast feed. Its sustainable to pump.
