Anyone else’s little one recently stopped using their dummy? My little boy was obsessed with his after a spell of being ill and I found he was increasingly wanting to use it all the time. So I introduced the dummy fairy who started taking his dummy’s away one by one until we were left with one which we accidentally lost the other day so was forced to go the whole night without one. So I saw this as our opportunity to get rid all together cold turkey, it’s been 3 really tough days of no sleep, no eating and constant frustration. I just wondered if anyone else was in the same position where they got rid of their dummy a bit later and how long it took for them to not care anymore🥵

Following as need to get rid of my daughters dummies

We used the dummy fairy too but slightly different. We added her in later.
First we told our 2.5 year old it was safer to leave her dummy in her bedroom during the day so it wouldn’t get lost. Once she handed going that for a while we started to gradually mention leaving her dummy for the fairy who would take it to little babies in the sky who don’t have a dummy and they would bring her a treat to say thank you.
She said the fairy would turn it into a trampoline 🫣😅
So we went with it. We told her that they need to take it away to start working on turning it into a trampoline for her birthday but they would leave a little treat when they took it. Each day we would ask her if she was ready to give it to the fairy so they could start working on it. Approx 2 months before her 3rd birthday she unexpectedly said she would do it tomorrow. (Sorry this isn’t fitting in one reply)

The next day I asked and she said yes. She said a”poem” to the fairies and left the dummy on a chair in our bedroom.
I told her that we couldn’t go in the room until bedtime. Mad rush to try to sneakily buy a “treat” discreetly with food shop. I got one of the unicorn cat surprise eggs because it’s what Aldi had but turned out good because the cat was there to cuddle when she didn’t have the dummy.
Bedtime we went to check ant her dummy was gone and treat in its place. That night she said “where’s my du” then stopped. Said “silly me” I said to get her cat which she did. For a few weeks she used the cat but didn’t mention the dummy again. Definitely was easier when she was ready. We have an almost 17 month old and his is going to go at Christmas if not before because it was approx 18 months our eldest became attached to hers xx
awh that’s so cute! I didn’t think about it from that perspective. I just introduced the dummy fairy as more of a threat that she’s always watching now he’s three and if she sees him with it, she’ll take it away🫣 I’m not sure there would’ve been anything to convince mine to give his up. Although we’re now on day 5 and he’s gone to sleep without asking for it, however he is still struggling to stay asleep at night without having his dummy to soothe him, but should hopefully soon improve! Thank you
