I’m in a Facebook group for the area I live in and am always surprised to see how many people are just letting literal random strangers around their kids. Idk always struck me as dangerous maybe I’m just nosey what do you think?

Because we have no choice. Not everyone has a village. I found my emergency sitter on Facebook from my local group and she's been amazing. I have nothing but positives to say about her. And she's been a blessing to us. I ran a soft background check on her and she had references. Shes been great and my kids love her

Tbh back in the day having teens babysit kids at the weekend so parents could have some semblance of a life was the norm... so when the old folk scream 'back in my day' I wonder why was OK in their day isn't ok in mine...
I mind my own business and come to a logical conclusion that said parent needs help and this is the safest avenue they have chosen based on their own situation.

Those apps are too expensive to use for the normal household and half of them don't even respond to you. Like Care.com for reference. They don't respond, they don't communicate and they want a ridiculous charge for just just a few hours. Those apps don't work
