Im curious as to why people feed their children cows milk….and also drink it themselves…personally i dont drink it and neither does my son and my newborn wont either. Just a question no judgement, are yall giving your kids cow milk out of tradition or do you believe that there are health benefits? Have you tried alternatives if no why not?

I’ve tried alternatives and my kids don’t like it plus their black doctor hounds us saying they need to drink more when I feel like they already drink enough…. I don’t drink it at all it’s gross to me I drink almond milk

My pediatrician recommended it and said it had the vitamins they needed and was good for growth :) he thoroughly liked it

Milk contains calcium for bone growth and strength

The fat in whole milk is crucial for brain development, especially in the first two years of life. It also contains vitamin B12, which helps the nervous system.

Thanks for the input. There a def alternatives for said calcium fat and b12 im finding mixed research that calcium is actually good for your bones as well….

I offer it once in a while but were not switching to cows' milk.
Like you said. You can get calcium and b12 from other sources and I follow Barbara oniel and she doesnt recommend cows milk.

Tried oat milk and never looked back, especially after I learned cows milk had a blood and pus allowance 🙃

It is recommended for a lot of reasons, but best to give them grass fed/forage milk and full fat. We were going to go with goat milk due to a quicker digestion and it turns out the folate levels are 12 times lower. It is not only for calcium or fat. There is a multitude of reasons that they need it.

I don’t drink milk. I just feel sickly from it/don’t like the taste. Same with creamer etc.
I’ll try my daughter on whole milk. But if she doesnt like it we will increase just her diary intake like yogurt, cheese.
Cows milk has health benefits in that it is an EASY way for babies to get nutrients that some foods don’t have. And babies don’t always finish their solid meals lol.
I also never breastfed my daughter at all. So I just do what feels right in general. Not strict

Also the plant based milks usually have a lot of additives and preservatives...depending on the type of nut or coconut milk, there would be certain nutrient differences as with the goat milk.

Well I don’t drink it much but I definitely have to for the calcium since I breastfeed exclusively. I can’t drink almond milk because my partner is allergic to almonds. I don’t really like soy milk plus making soy milk is pretty bad for the environment Anyway, I don’t like the taste of goat milk, coconut milk has a weird consistency outside of cooking to me and those are the only options I know of. Plus my mom grew up with a lot of farm animals and cows Milk was what they always drank so that’s what she gave us.

It's absolutely cram packed full of vitamins and minerals.
As for choice, 1. We like it. 2. It's cheap xx

I love the taste of it and actually crave it at times. It’s good and healthy. My daughter only likes it with chocolate in it currently. We’ve actually tried goat milk but didn’t like it

I offer no more than 300 ml a day, for calcium, far and hydration.. formula keeps him full for longer and he won’t eat solids which is more important for this stage.

I don't mind it in recipes etc but I wouldn't give my child cow milk to just drink if that makes sense. I breastfeed for as long as they want and then they can have water and a healthy diet. We skip the milk stage! 😅

I agree it's odd that we're so conditioned to drink the milk of another species. My husband swears that oat milk is just as nice in coffee, but I don't know...

I grew up drinking/liking whole cow's milk so after i stopped breastfeeding my firstborn we went straight into it. Yes, its more of it being the status quo so it would be my firat choice as no one in my family is lactose intolerant and there are so many benefits. However as an adult i did start pondering on how weird it is that we use another animal's milk. We love almond milk so these days we usually have both in the home or one of them, interchangeably.

Tastes nice, good for you and children. We eat cheese anyway so no point cutting just cows milk out

As long as you arent lactose intolerant theres really no problem in drinking cows milk or giving it to your children. It contains necessary vitamins and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, protein, riboflavin and vitamin B12. If kids like to drink it it’s no harm. As long as its NOT raw milk 😂

I drink almond milk now but it has a lot of fillers. Its most because Almond milk lasts longer in the fridge and is less calories for my smoothie.

Me and my child only drink almond and coconut milk. Cow milk is for cows and have too many controversy around it and soy milk have controversy as well

My partner loves it but he's lactose intolerant so doesn't have it often. My first born is CMPA, shes done the milk ladder challenge and just can't tolerate cow's milk straight from the fridge, makes her vomit, can be in foods heated etc., wont drink oat, almond or soya milk so at 21 months old is still on a neocate prescription. 2nd born 7 month old is on neocate as CMPA too and we've just started the milk ladder with her too. I dont like milk but will tolerate in tea, coffee, cereal and in foods but wouldn't just pour a glass for myself. Its in my diet as I was given it as a child and having no allergy I probably wont change to a alternative either. X

Mostly Tradition especially in recipes. My daughter and I don't drink milk. She was breastfeed. Almond milk is ok but I'd rather have dry cereal. 🫠

There was a majorrr marketing scheme by the dairy industry to push milk as good and necessary for you (in the 80s or 90s - celebs drinking milk etc) as they weren't making enough profit and it just became socially accepted as fact after that 🤷🏻♀️
