Singleton Or Port Talbot?

Has any one got positive experiences giving birth in Port talbot hospital instead of Singleton? I had my first child in singleton and it was horrific.

No experience in Port Talbot but I had mine in Singleton and it was awful, I feel like every mum I speak to says the same thing. Xx

Could you consider transferring your care to Princess of Wales? Port Talbot is just a midwife led birth centre, so any complications you'd be transferred to Singleton. Princess of Wales have a midwife led suite called Daffodil x

I’ve birthed in both and both were great! If I done it a third time I’d choose Port Talbot as it’s a lot quieter (was only us there birthing at the time) and the room you get moved to after it is like a hotel! We even decided to stay the night, it was really lovely x

I’m chuffed to say that I had both my sons in Singleton and we had amazing experiences both times. I know majority of people have bad experiences but honestly not everyone has. They were brilliant with me from start to finish xx

Following due in may and currently attending in singleton didnt know it had such bad experiences!

I'm so scared because I hear so many horror stories about Singleton and thats where they have booked me in but I really want to go to Princess of Wales but they said they cant transfer me. I have to have a c section due to medical reasons and I am now incredibly scared.

I know 4 or 5 people that have given birth in NPT since it reopened and they’ve all had amazing experiences! My experience in singleton wasn’t terrible (the birth was but that was baby’s fault🤣) but there were a few things that could’ve gone better.

Removing catheter at 1am knowing they required me to pee a certain amount of times in a specific timeframe, meaning I couldn’t sleep all night, things like that where they meant no harm but could’ve been different if they’d thought more carefully. It sounds like in NPT they’re more considerate

It's worth an ask and just explain your reasoning. If your low risk then Port Talbot is absolutely fine, but there are no doctors at the unit so if needed they will transfer you to Singleton as Bridgend is now under a difference health board x

I gave birth in NPT back in November and had a pretty positive experience. Some of the staff there really stood out and were very friendly and helpful. Although i did find I was waiting around for an hour having contractions before they finally gave me pain relief (the pool and Gas and Air). Not sure how normal that is🤷🏻‍♀️ After i gave birth, we were planning on sleeping there the rest the night as the staying rooms looked very lovely but unfortunately we couldn’t as my blood pressure spiked and I had to be transferred to Singleton then because of the risk of preeclampsia.

Although i was only in Singleton for a couple of hour after giving birth, i personally didn’t find them as good. Staff did not communicate with me well at all. Left us waiting and waiting, no one offered us tea or coffee until my partner complained. Just didn’t find them very helpful or caring at all.

Out of the both, I would personally like to go NPT if i gave birth again 🙂

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

2nd pregnancy after c section

I’m not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon but in the future possibly. I just wanted to know how is pregnancy after c section like my fear is having to go through another emergency operation or even putting strain on my incision during pregnancy

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Baby Movements

Hello, I’m a FTM currently 18W5D pregnant. I’ve been getting this tugging feeling in my stomach after I eat, it’s uncomfortable but not painful. I don’t know whether that’s the baby moving or round ligaments pain.

I’ve also been getting round ligament pain which is either a sharp stabbing pain or a stretching sensation. These happens whether or not I’ve eaten while the tugging feeling is only after I’ve eaten.

So, could the tugging feeling be the baby or something else.
