What do you think about baby harnesses

My baby loves walking everywhere doesn’t like the pram too long or being sat but I really don’t wanna put her in one of them just doesn’t look right to me in my opinion.

Never thought I’d use reins, always disliked them but now my son is walking everywhere, I couldn’t be without them. I have childhood trauma re abduction so having him attached to me by a strap rather than just holding hands makes me feel like he’s that bit safer. He also explores everywhere so managing to keep him from straying too far without having to grab him/stop him, is nice! X

I use them because his walking is still wobbly and he falls a lot especially in wellies! Better to hold the strap to catch than his hand, nursemaids elbow is a really common injury and I don't fancy a trip to hospital to get his elbow relocated 🤣

I have seen little backpacks that have a strap attached to them, so they can put a couple of toys in the bag and you don’t have to use the strap/harness bit unless you’re somewhere dangerous.
Good to get them used to carrying they’re own stuff young too!

I’ve just brought trunki ones, they have a sale on and they are padded at the front with a good fastening at the back

We used a Little Life backpack with a strap for my son - he loved his turtle backpack!

We’ll be using it with baby girl too as she’s a runner and will definitely be off as soon as we get her out of the buggy 😂

We don't have one yet but they are a great safetly tool. I think they are ideal to make sure baby can't just run off. I think for things like at a zoo them walking next to you with safety reigns so you can keep them close is great but walking on the pavement by the road or crossing the road or in busy places than it is a hand hold with the handle to hold incase they make a run for it.

partners that work 9-5 shouldn’t have to help out with baby at night

More specifically during night feeds and wakings. Just curious to see.

If so please comment your nightly routines with your babies and partners!

Emotional

I'm 9 days postpartum and feel so overwhelmed. I keep having feelings of not loving my baby and craving my life before him. I am breastfeeding and I feel like this is also really taking a toll on me, although things have improved over the last few days. I seem to have good parts in the day and then around the same time in the late afternoon, I start to feel really sad and teary. I just want to feel 'normal' again and love the newborn bubble.

3 month sleep regression

My 3 month old is up every hour recently! Is this common? Is it normal? Please tell me I'm not alone in this ...

Co sleeping

Maybe I’m being dumb but I don’t understand the concept of co sleeping for those of you who do it when baby doesn’t stay down in their cot. Am I missing the point or is there no difference in the two? I put my baby down in the bed the same way I put her in her cot. Am I doing it wrong? She wakes up and cries and doesn’t want to stay down. She wants to be held. I’ve tried to hold her, lie down and the roll over so she still thinks I’m holding her, but there’s too much movement and she wakes up regardless of co sleeping. Do other mums hold their babies or cuddle them when co sleeping? From the lullaby trust I can see that the baby is not being held in any way, so I can’t understand how I’m supposed to sleep if my baby doesn’t want to be put down even when co sleeping..

Sleep training

Since she is going through the 4-month sleep regression, we decided to try sleep training because I really want her to learn how to self-soothe and put herself back to sleep.

We tried the Ferber method. We let her cry for 3 minutes, then went in and tried to calm her down. She cried for another 5 minutes, so we went in again to try to settle her, and then stopped after another 3 minutes because she was crying so much and was making herself almost sick.

The main problem we have is that she wakes up almost every hour at night and wants to breastfeed for comfort so she can fall back asleep. I just want her to learn how to self-soothe and connect her sleep cycles.

But honestly, the sleep training felt so cruel. Even when we went in to comfort her, I couldn't really calm her down.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What worked for you? Should I try sleep training again tomorrow, or give her a break and try a different approach?
