Acting weird

It’s been 4 months since I delivered my precious little girl and this is the first time we’re taking her out to social gatherings with friends. I’m naturally concerned as a mom in the way someone handles her or if they schedule to meet past her bedtime I don’t think twice to cancel plans. I’m also not afraid to call out jokes on her appearance as distasteful. My partner says I’m acting weird and maybe it’s out of “postpartum depression”. I feel he’s neglecting my boundaries by labeling my behavior while he should be the one stepping up to keep up these boundaries as well.

Yes me too. Regardless what you feel and until when this should be respected by everyone who loves you, this is what i believe 🥰❤️ you are doing your best here surely he should get it

You are absolutely right, jokes about baby appearances are distasteful, period! And you stepping in is the right thing to do.

Why are people even making jokes on her appearance? That's very strange behaviour to me even for adults. Stay being protective and doing right by her.

You’re not wrong to be concerned bringing baby to a social gathering, but the things you have mentioned.. have they happened? If not I would say you seem to have some anxiety if you’re anticipating things that haven’t happened. Maybe that’s why your husband mentioned pp? I totally get running every scenario and the what ifs that could happen through my brain before events but I suffer from anxiety myself lol.

I didn’t have PPD but anyone who makes jokes about a child’s appearance is a weirdo and I would also be calling that out.

Who is bullying babies?

I wouldn’t call out people on how they handle her, especially if they are childless themselves, just help them hold her better and give a bit of reassurance. I never held a baby until I had my own and had to be shown and constantly asked the midwives if I was doing it right. Also rescheduling if late at night is normal, a one off every now and then is fine but if it’s constant it’s disruptive and not considerate of friends with kids.

I don’t know all the ins and outs, but I side with you and you should probably trust your intuition and feelings.

Do you stick to the 30 minute car seat advice ?

We live in a small village and the 2 nearest cities are around 45 minutes from us. Seems silly to get the baby out for the sake of 15 minutes

Stepkids (12F, 17M) hating the new pregnancy.. how to handle?

Hey everyone, looking for advice on navigating some tough stepfamily dynamics.

My partner and I have been together for a while. There was a lot of drama with his ex at the beginning, so the kids didn't like me initially. I get why the transition was hard, but we're running into a wall now that I gave birth.

The 12-year-old daughter has been super moody and upset about the pregnancy, especially stressing over whether it's a girl (we waited till I gave birth to find out the gender). On a recent FaceTime (which included the ex and the 17yo son), she literally sat in the background the whole time texting, ignoring us completely.

It really unsettled me especially the thought of her resentment if I had a daughter. I gave birth to a baby boy but still.

How do you guys handle stepkids who are openly resentful about a new baby, and how do you set boundaries with FaceTime calls when the ex is involved? Any advice is appreciated!

Getting angry

So recently my 2 year old has learned that he gets mad/ frustrated . Some girl took the ball from him like 2 times and the 3rd time he got mad and kinda growled but like when you’re mad. Then I bought him Legos and he’s learning some pieces are hard to stick together well he built a tower and screamed I’m mad right now ! And I told him it’s ok take a deep breath and let’s pick them up. And I just started reading tiny humans big emotions. Now I guess I better hurry up but for now how do you guys handle situations like these especially in public I know it starts at home but I need advice for both just so I don’t tell him the wrong thing and make him feel like he can’t cry or have feelings

Looking for support

Last night was one of the most frightening and emotionally overwhelming nights I’ve experienced in a long time, and I’m honestly not sure what to do.

Baby boy changes clothes 😳

Just fully changed vest and pjs number 4 or 5 in 24 hours oh myyyyyy. Between sneaky pees while changing nappy, poop or pee leak, and spit ups my washing is crazy! Usually 2 sleeping bags and at least 1 new sheet per each night also due to spit ups in bed 😖😖😖 ps spit ups are small but somehow with angle he soaks his whole arm so I have no choice… And of course they HATE the changing and scream!
