Rant

Just want to get this off my chest. Yesterday we had a family meal for a birthday and we took our 4 month old baby boy. His Nan and Grandad on my Husbands side haven’t seen him for a while so had hold of him most of the time. The Nan was saying quite a lot that he’s ready for food even though I really don’t think he is yet. Told me to start feeding him baby rice even though iv told people I don’t want to start my baby on baby rice. Then!!!!! after me saying “i’ll think about it and I just want to leave him for a bit longer” I caught them putting chocolate on there finger and in his mouth 😭 I said to them NO and that I didn’t want him to have chocolate as his first bloody taste. Feel so annoying and upset. Am I acting dramatic ? 🫠

imo you’re not being dramatic at all, plus the potential for allergens in the choc you’re unaware of, like nuts and stuff. I’d be really annoyed if I was you x

Not overreacting at all! Id be annoyed

I was so upset when I got home that I didn’t say more 🫠 thinking about it more today I actually can’t believe it!

Avatar

This is so bad, I would be so angry. The comments about food i could let pass, but the blatant disrespect of your wishes/ what you had literally just said to them would really upset me. Plus the safety risk.

You are not dramatic at all, how dare people to get involved in parent's parenting decisions! I'd ask you husband to let her know her boundaries

Avatar

I would be so annoyed, one they took away giving your baby his first try of food second it’s your child they should respect your wishes. I’d tell my partner to say something because that overstepping a boundary yes they can have their opinion but not do whatever they please

Avatar

I think that is what has really upset me too. I literally just said what my plan was and they basically went behind my back. It was written all over there faces when I caught them, they stopped immediately! so they knew it was a wrong thing to do, so why do it? I can’t believe how much people don’t listen to the mother of a child 😭

Totally on yoir side, not overreacting, its a disrespect of authority, a disregard of your wishes, a lack of self control, a thoughtless thing like Leah said it could contain allergens, and its just a breach of trust at the end of the day... I dont mean to exaggerate, but things always start small...almost like testing the waters... and almost like they know better because they've had kids (hate that argument) but no, its a breach of trust and hard to trust people who go behind your back especially revolving around your baby

Avatar

You aren't being dramatic. It's also not recommended until 6 months

Avatar

I would be furious

Avatar

No. They have no respect for your boundaries. The guidance had changed since their day. In all honesty, I would have left entirely

Avatar

You are not being dramatic at all. They crossed a line there big time. I would have been absolutely fuming too, 1. dismissing your wishes, 2. using their fingers and 3. that it was chocolate.
I would give them a stern talking to.

Avatar

WTF. I would have been furious if they did it to my son. I had taken him away and given them a mouthful without any sugar coating.
I possibly had even left and made clear to them that they were allowed to see my baby again once they self reflected their behaviour, apologised and understood that your boundaries/ rules have to be respected. Otherwise I would not trust them with my baby again. My MIL is great at not respecting boundaries and when she made fun of them and said that she would not follow them, my partner told her off. He told her that behaviour is exactly the reason I (baby mama) don't trust her and leave her alone with my baby and she better feels "overlooked " and if she continues with her drama, she'll be the one missing out

Avatar

I'm 💯 with you, I'd be really annoyed at not being listened too or respected

Avatar

Am fuming for you! It’s your child, you decide what’s best! Tell them no, who cares what they think. You and your child are the priority!

Any ideas what this is?

Have taken Eva to the pharmacist, A&E and the GP. They all said the external one is impetigo which I agree with. For her tongue (it looked a bit different yesterday and the day before when they saw it) one said dehydration and one said thrush. Chatgpt now says Gingivostomatitis? She can’t eat anything from the pain and antibiotics and thrush medication haven’t helped. Taking her again to the GP in a few hours. 🙁

nursery this young

My baby is currently 6 months old, and I’m already thinking about going back to work when he’s around 12 months.

Honestly, I don’t really want to leave him at nursery this young, but I also want to continue building my career.

For mums who started nursery around 1 year old — how did you find it? Did you feel like it affected your bond with your baby, or did you both adjust okay?

Anyone working from home and raising a toddler?

I've been working full time from home since covid hit in 2020 and now have a 1 year old that I am raising. It's a challenge balancing work and being a mom/wife. But I struggle with the idea of putting my daughter in daycare. Anyone else in the same boat? If so, how are you coping? What are some tips that make things easier?

Am I justified in being upset?

Hi,

So my bestie, lets call her Bea, just bought an apartment. I am so happy for her. Apparently she thinks she only has like 30 daysnto move on her something (she confused me).

So, on Sunday the two of us, my son, 3 of our friends and the son of one of those friends are going to an exhibit of sorts. I have booked a table at a cafe. Bea said she may not be able to come but refused to confirm her other plans with her mums and waited til she was contacted instead.

Annoying but fine. She said she can come.

Then she booked something with her Mum on the Saturday. Not an issue.

Over the weekend she called me and told me about the apartment and said her Mum isn't comfortable/able to drive at night so is staying atbhers Saturday night. No issue, why would it be.

Then apparently because her Mum is staying she has decides on cancelling with us because her Mum is going to help her pack.

This is annoying and has upset me. It feels she is unneccessarily cancelling on us. I also texted an floated the idea of me and/or our friends helping after our catch up on Sunday. She never responded.

Also, we caught up last week but due to issues with childcare (I need someone close by for my son in case preschool called. It was his first day back after surgery) we had to re jig our original plans and agreed if she wasn't going away we would do something Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday this week as that is when I am kiddo free.

She was in communicado yesterday and I was up the coast but was home by like 10:30.

She has also been incommunicado today.

I texted her asking if we were doing anything and she asked of I had any thoughts and about childcare. I said no and he was in preschool so it was all good. She then hasn't responded further.

Also we agreed to catch up on Friday and she knew I was catching a train up the coast at around 1pm. I reached out and she didn't respond til 11:30. I had to say that she knew I was on a schedule and then she said lets cancel. She mentioned she had been on heaps of phone calls. I found out later it was about buying the house. Would a text have killed her though?

Prior to that we had agreed on plqns and she was going to pick me up. She texted when she was meant to be leaving and aaid ahe was helping her flat mate with their smoke alarm. Then she was late and said her Dad rang. She frequently talks through the car so could have driven and talked like she always does.

A few weeks ago we had planned to go apartment huntong togethwr because I couldn't go the previous weekend. Booked it in for Saturday and on the Friday night as we are saying goodbye after trivia, she mentions maybe doing somethinf on Sunday. I asked about Saturday and she said her Mum was coming up and she was going with her.

Anyway, I am upset that she seems to be consistently ditching me, late as she has chosen to do other things, that she has chosen to ditch our catch up because her Mum is staying over. It feels like she juat doesn't care sometimes.

She sees her Mum frequently, was there on the weekend and stayed over saturday night and will be seeing her all of next Saturday.

A lot of our plans she either has done or is doing with her Mum. It's hard to book things with her because she is constantly doing things with her Mum.

When I started dating my partner she had issues becaise I prioritised him a bit and I wasn't as available. Same when I got other friends (no longer friends with them for reasons unrelated to Bea) and spend a bunch of time with them.

Then same thing when I had my kiddo.

We talked about it many times and I took it on board and tried to make our friendship a bit more of a priority.

Now I feel like I have to fight for us to hang out.

Father in law giving sweets to grandchildren

My father in law gave my nearly 4 year old some sweets the other day and he said “in this bag is your baby sisters share”. Her baby sister is only 6 months old so I had to reinforce to her to not give her sister otherwise she can choke. My eldest daughter doesn’t fully understand risks etc. would you be annoyed with father in law? I’m very angry even though he was probably joking. Or am I overreacting.
