With my first the gas and air made me vomit

Didn’t feel or be sick once in my labour or birth thankfully

Did anyone get any medications or treatment for vomiting in labour? Curious at to whether that's a thing in the NHS or not?

Avatar

Think I vomed before I left the house and then when I had gas n air. I didn't get any meds for it as it was sort of a one off thing and settled quickly.

I was sick constantly with the contractions and gas & air but that was it, minute I had her it was over

I felt sick but was never sick

Gas and air was the first thing that made me 🤮 literally had two puffs and chucked that thing 😂 but I did vomit a little right before I started pushing but idk if that was from pain or just nerves aha

I was fine with gas and air but I threw up after having pethidine

Avatar

No, but I do wonder whether it’s the pain relief that causes most peoples vomiting rather than labour itself.

The gas & air made me sick 🤢

I vomited from too much gas and air

Avatar

Yes - not sure exactly why. I had induction, and vomited a few times during the contraction phase of that (I had only had paracetamol at this point). I then also vomited immediately after birth (I'd had gas and air) so they gave me anti-sickness via drip.

It did for me which caused ketones in my urine x

if your emetophobic, i am, they let you stay dosed up on anti sickness the whole time so you won’t be sick! they’ll do anything they can to not cause you any stress x

Our wee man has arrived!

Originally due 13th October, my blood pressure decided it no longer wanted to play ball and forced us into an earlier induction and all different hoops to jump through, but Brodie Angus has arrived today 09/10/26 at 12.59pm, weighing 8 pounds 15 ounces ❤️ and he has stolen our hearts!

GBS Positive and Water Leaked

Hi everyone,

I’m 40+5 weeks pregnant with my first baby and looking for advice from anyone who’s been through something similar.

My waters started leaking around 9:30 pm yesterday (so around 3.5 hours ago from this post) and no further leaking, and the hospital has confirmed this with a positive swab test. I’ve also tested positive for Group B Strep (GBS) previously.

I’m not having any contractions or pain yet, and when the midwife examined me, my cervix was still closed and appeared dry.

The hospital is recommending induction because my waters have broken and I’m GBS-positive. I’m particularly worried about induction when my cervix is still closed, whether it will work, and the possibility of it eventually leading to a C-section.

I’d really prefer to go into labour naturally and have a vaginal birth if possible, but I also want to make sure my baby is safe.

Also, thinking to get discharged and wait for a day at home as long as it’s safe.

Has anyone experienced waters breaking before contractions started, particularly with GBS-positive results and a closed cervix?

Did you wait for natural labour or choose induction? How long did it take for your cervix to open, and did you manage to have a vaginal birth?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences.

Thanks in advance.

Morning sickness

Hi! I’m 12 weeks 3 days and still dealing with morning sickness. I’ve tried actually everything and nothing works. Is anyone else in the same situation? 😭 Would love to connect with other people going through it or just someone with a similar due date (April 21st)

Almost time?

So at this point I don’t even know whats going on 🤣I am 39+3 weeks and had so many episodes of cramping/pains where I have thought this is it but clearly its been Braxton hicks as still no baby!
Yesterday I had bad cramping and pains for 9 hours from 3pm onwards, had urge to poop and lost thick discharge, and the pains did feel like they were getting worse and at one point it was too uncomfortable to even walk.. to the point I had everything ready to go and then everything just stopped again LOL.
Its my 2nd birth but tbh forgot what it felt like last time as I was induced and the whole thing was a blur as it was four years ago!

Anyone else been experiencing this?

Normal?

I’m new to all of this as a first-time mom, and I’m only 6 weeks pregnant, so it’s still very early. I’ve been feeling pretty tired all the time, which I can manage, but I’ve also noticed that I’m becoming more irritable than usual. I feel like I need to poop more often, but when I do, it comes out in small, pebble-like pieces that is not hard. When I can’t go, I feel really uncomfortable and nauseous, although I never actually throw up. On top of that, I’ve been struggling to sleep. I keep tossing and turning throughout the night and waking up frequently, so I never feel like I’m getting proper rest.
