Hello lovelies, I’m getting closer to my date of c section.
Can I ask how it all went for you? I felt prepared and now I have this awful feeling what if I bleed out! I’m sure that’s not the case. But I just wondered how it went, and how the aftermath was. I have seen on social media people say it’s horrendous but then I speak to friends and family and they’re like yeah it’s not easy but you can cope! You can walk, etc. I think it’s the unknown… lol!
Also were you all sick during your procedure and did you all get terrible trapped gas? If so what tips do you have xx

My c- section was fast it definitely is nerve wrecking not knowing what's happening all you feel is like they're pulling you but no pain. They got me up and walking within 8hrs of my surgery. I was able to stand straight by day 2. And it felt sore for a few days but in my opinion it wasn't that bad. As many people make it out to be.
I think seeing your baby for the first time will be worth everything.

Mine went really well, it was an elected c section. I had a playlist ready and having that playing made me feel so content and my daughter was born the song I wanted. I was sick at the start of the procedure but they just added more anti sickness and within seconds I was absolutely fine. My daughter was here within 10-15 minutes of me laid down and after that you don’t even think about what’s going on. It was the most incredible experience of my life and I would do it all over again.
I was up and walking the same night but was just walking slower I didn’t have pain or any troubles getting in and out of bed. I also didn’t have any trapped gas but have been told that chewing gum helps so I packed loads in my hospital bag hahah. I had no issues with my recovery at all.
I asked for a PICO dressing and honestly put everything down to that with how well my recovery was.
Hope it goes well! Enjoy every second with your little one🥹❤️

Had my c-section on 5th March and I would do it all again if I had the time again.
It was a really positive experience. I lost a litre of blood and didn't even know until afterwards. Didn't feel sick at all and I have had no gas. Make sure you drink loads afterwards.
To me, it's painful at first when you stand up (first few days) but keep on top of the pain meds and you will be fine.
The pain in my 2nd week just felt like a period to me as my uterus contracts.
I was terrified before my section, but like I said, I would do it all again.
I will add...I had a laparoscopy in 2021 to remove endometriosis and the gas and sickness after that was 10x worse

mine was an emergency my second is scheduled for april 13th but honeslty my biggest recommendation is staying on top of meds take them 30 mins before your due for them!! it’ll help with pain! walking does hurt but it helps so much!! get some stool softener or gas x to help with trapped gas it got trapped in my shoulders and was painful i asked for heating packs those helped with the pain temporarily but ultimately walking helped the most!
i used an abdominal binder for the first 2 weeks and it was a life saver!!! nurses will push your stomach every 15 mins or so to make sure everything feels okay and your not hemorrhaging!

I didnt get sick during my last c section. It was an emergency one so i didnt have any time to prepare. However THIS time i WILL be bringing my own over the counter pain meds and gas pills so im not stuck waiting on the nurses.

Have had 2 c sections the first was back in 2021 but that was an emergency so totally different to an elective.
My second was March 2025, it was so chilled and you have an idea of how the day is planned. You get to talk to the surgeon and anaesthetist before hand and they will run through the whole procedure so you’re not going into it not knowing what will happen. I also felt sick on the theatre table and also after and they looked after me so well. They put something in your IV and then had anti sickness tablets after. Everyone was lovely.
Yes you’ll be very tender but you will be able to walk- slowly. The nurses will also show you the easiest way to manoeuvre yourself out of bed and the best way to stand up. Your body will let you know its limits just listen to your body and when it’s too much. You rest but don’t not move about as it’ll make it 100 times worse for you and recovery. All the best ♥️

I had an unplanned c-section, almost emergency. If I get pregnant again, I will plan the c-section as my set of circumstances makes it more likely that I’ll need one. I’ve heard great things from people that have had them planned.
Recovery was not bad at all. I was up and using the rest room the same day. By the following day I could be out of the bed for longer periods of time.
My recovery at home was not difficult. I just followed what they told me to do and I’ve had no problems.

i had a planned c-section to deliver my twins. of course your natural feeing is to feel scared, anxious, overwhelming and anything else you can possibly think of. my recovery time was not all that bad at all. i heard compression socks are really good to wear as well.
when you’re in recovery it can be overwhelming cause you want to enjoy your precious blessing but at the same time your numb and can’t feel anything, i just ended up massaging my legs and moving them around and by the time i was ready to go too my room i was able to lift myself in and out of bed.
when i was home it was a bit of a struggle i had a lot of pain on my right side, it felt like i popped a stitch, but my mistake was not putting support behind me, so definitely have a lot of pillows, and just something to help
you get up.
the hospital i was at provided a lot of support during my stay there so definitely lean on your nurses and doctors. they were the biggest help!

My experience was a really good one. It was planned which I’ve heard is much easier to recover from than an emergency one. This is the weirdest thing to say ever but I almost felt like I enjoyed it - it was a bit of a high, adrenaline I guess. I was allowed to have my own music on and that helped me massively! I kinda zoned into the music and just let them get on with it. I did feel a bit sick during but I let them know and within seconds they’d given me something and the feeling was gone! The worst part for me was the cannula but I’m a real wimp with them. Recovery was also good, I was up walking the next day, for a few weeks I was tender trying to sit up etc but everyday you feel yourself getting stronger. I would 100% choose this for myself again.

I think elective c section recovery is a lot smoother than emergency c section. My c section went really well, didn’t throw up, didn’t feel anything other than some tugging whilst they were sorting me out after but I had my baby next to me so I wasn’t focused on that at all.
I was walking the same evening down the ward. It was painful after but manageable, just hurt to laugh or sneeze for a while. I was walking at home soon after, very slowly but I was still walking x

I had an emergency one and honestly, if I ever get pregnant again, I will opt for another. Though it was scary because it being an emergency, it actually had a really positive experience.
I was petrified to get uo for the first time but it wasnt as bad as I was expecting and recovery was not bad either, I definitely had some bad days but thats how I knew I was pushing myself too much. So, be kind to yourself, rest for however long you need and stock up on pain killers. X

Hey, I had mine in August 2025. My recovery was pretty easy. Speed bumps were not pleasant for the first few weeks but I went for a walk the day after and started walking when I got home. Baby and I were discharged after 36h. Honestly, breastfeeding was a million times more difficult physically and emotionally for me than the c section was. I felt close to normal around 8 weeks I think and started working out 5 weeks post.

I had a great experience and a great recovery!

Hello! I had an emergency c section in February 2024 after a 72 hour labour. By that point I was so relieved to get this child out of me 😅. I didn’t feel sick during it at all, but about an hour later I ate for the first time in like 13 hours and that’s when I threw up. Obviously that didn’t feel great but I survived and nothing bad happened because of it. As soon as I was able to walk, I only wanted to stand. I felt much better standing and walking around (slowly). And yes don’t skip the meds!
I got home a couple days later and realized nobody had told me anything about the surgery I just had 😅. So I was doing the stairs (slowly and carefully) and drove a couple days later.
I did sleep on the couch for the first week or two. I found it a lot easier to slip off of any time I had to get up as it’s lower than my bed.
Good luck! You got this, mama! 💕

Had a c section a week ago and I am able to do most of my household chores without any pain relief (not that we are supposed to do it). The procedure itself was super smooth and within 5 minutes into the procedure we got to see and listen to our baby. Once the baby is with you the rest of the procedure will go well and you won’t think of anything else. I did not feel sick during the procedure and even if you do they would have all the meds ready to support you.

I wrote about my planned c section experience, very positive! You can find the link to it in my profile.

My c section was unplanned. After pushing for 4 and a half hours and no progress the ob suggested it was the best option.
