Are nursing bras worth it?

Pregnant with my first I do plan to exclusively breast feed. I definitely don’t want pads or underwire. Are nursing bras with the front hooks worth it or do yall just pop a boob our the bottom of a bralette?

I was much more comfortable wearing a sports bra and pulling my tit out the top, not the bottom

I didn’t think I needed one and once the baby came my tank tops were useless! Bought me nursing bras that unclip in the front and it was life changing

Yeah I mean I pop it out the top not the bottom. But bralettes all the way. I tried on a nursing bra even without padding or wire and it was so structured and uncomfortable, I truly can't imagine wearing that daily.

Nursing bras or vests make life so much easier and are definitely more comfortable. Just be careful if you are popping a boob out of a bralette, sometimes if material is tight or digging into the breast while feeding it could lead to blocked ducts or mastitis, so I would pull the bralette down rather than up to make sure all the breast tissue is free x

EBF for 25 months and expecting my second in a few weeks . I’ve lived in nursing bras for 2 years .

Bralettes are great in the first weeks and sleeping in at night.

100% yes but I also lived in the tank tops that fold down! H&M have them, you can wear a loose open button down over it and it’s great bc it doesn’t expose your stomach at all, you just pop the strap down

Really depends how big your boobs are, no way mine were coming out the bottom of a bralette 😝 I actually went up to a k cup while breastfeeding 😳 I found nursing bras more comfortable than regular bras

1-2 clip down bras are worth it because when I pump I unclip it down put the flanges into the hole of the bra then I’ll clip it back up and it holds my 2 pumps in place for me to be hands free to do whatever- read or stroke my baby or whatever. I don’t need to sit there and hold the 2 flanges to my boob if I have a nursing bra on. Plus you can get some sexy looking ones so to feel a lil sexier in amist all the spit up and milk and PP BO looking down at my cute bra makes me feel better lol. They usually don’t come w underwire - having wire on BF boobs can cause blockages so they don’t really make it w wire anyway

Front hooks were my favorite for nursing out in public! But otherwise I would just pop it out at home lol

I loved my nursing bras! It made breastfeeding so much easier because I didn't have to take off my bra and it felt weird not wearing a bra at all.

What would you do?

Breastfeeding
Pros:
- Better for baby
- Don't have to pay for formula
Cons:
- I'm probably gonna get touched out
- Worries, what if I don't produce enough, latching etc
- I want my partner to be able to handle feeds too
- I'll be going back to work after 9m

Formula
Pros:
- Already know what I'm doing
- Dad can do feeds
- Feel like this will be easier when baby starts nursery at 9m but don't know.
Cons
- More expense

Also please give me more pros/cons for both as that might help me make a decision 😅

Making bottles while out

Don’t come for me, I’m a first time mam and still learning! When I am out, I haven’t been doing a “hot shot” or mixing formula into hot water as I have been using the nuby rapid cooler and just cooling the correct amount of water down e.g. 4oz of boiling water then pouring it into a bottle (I use mam bottles) and then adding the powder but I have been researching and it says I should be mixing it the powdered formula into hot water to get rid of any bacteria however when I am out I can’t sterilise the nuby rapidcooler and sometimes we use about 3 or 4 bottles depending how long we are out. I use SMA First Infant Milk. What does everyone else do? I’m stressing🤣 I need advice as I don’t really want to have to get pre-made formula as it’s just means having to spend even more money.

Newborn visitors

Would you make someone wait a few days after flying on a plane before coming to see your newborn?

My reason being that planes are full of germ ridden strangers and I’m already going to be paranoid about germs with my baby being a winter born baby.

My mum implied that I’m being dramatic.

So done with the attitude from providers…

Had my 13wk appt with the OB for my second pregnancy yesterday. It’s not my first rodeo, so I already know what to expect from this office, but I just hate the aaaaattitude I get from them sometimes!

The nurse mentioned the NIPT blood test when I got to the exam room, so I just said, “oh, no thank you. I’ll be declining genetic testing.” She kinda paused and made a face. Then she said, ok well your chart says you’re due for your pap, so I’ll have you undress … and I said, “oh, no. I’d just feel more comfortable waiting until after I deliver to have my next pap if that’s ok.” She made a face again and said “oh, you’ll be declining that too well ok! Here is a pamphlet on the suggested vaccines for your next appt and the doctor will be in in a minute!”

🙄 wtf is that about. I have every right to decline whatever service they’re offering for whatever reason. Also, what’s with the judgement? So I don’t want the NIPT? Ok, that feels like a pretty normal preference. So I want to wait on a pap? I’m low risk and regularly get them anyway. Feels like a pretty normal choice? Ease up, lady!

Opinions needed!

So my partner and I aren't that well off financially. We vave a 19 month old and I'm 30 weeks pregnant. We wanted to move to a 2 bed flat before baby comes but it seems we can't afford it comfortably.

Is it unrealistic to change our 1 bed flat to a 2 bed, where we'd change the front room slightly for my partner, me and the newborn to sleep so that my toddler can have his own room. I'm also weary of my son having to get used to being in his own room before baby comes, so us staying where we are would enable him time for that.

Or, do we push for another flat that's bigger and more expensive and scrape by?

What are your thoughts?

Nursery/breastfeeding/CMPA

My daughter has dairy and egg allergies so for nursery I’ve been pumping and sending that with her, I’m still happy to breastfeed her to sleep at night and when she wakes up in the morning, and even for naps when we’re both home all day together but I HATE pumping. Do I actually need to be sending her with breast milk or do I have alternatives or is she just okay without it at all? For reference she’s JUST turned 12 months so not sure if that changes anything - thank you so much in advance for advice I am STRESSED x
