My baby starts solids next week and Im trying to plan ahead. Im wondering how much is too much, especially in the early days. I see conflicting things about 1-2 tablespoons, but some babies are eating whole meals.
My plan for day 1 is pureed ground beef/breastmilk on a preloaded spoon with an avocado spear. We are having taco night! And the plan for the rest of the month is fairly similar, prioritizing allergen exposure and iron. So 1 puree (with 1-3 foods) and 1 finger food. Should I offer more? Picture of my beautiful baby boy so we dont get lost! He's getting so big ðŸ˜

Let your baby lead! Both of mine took only tastes for the first several weeks but like you said, some babies catch on right away. As long as they're eating meals by 1, most doctors won't care how fast they reached that point.

I’m prob doing the same, starting small one puree/food option for one week to watch for allergies. And starting off with beef/chicken. I really want to make the meat stock for baby. Heard a lot of good stuff. But my babe is only 4m, pedi approved solids but I want to wait until 6m. Dad already let him taste hummus and suck on a beef stick 😅🙄 but we waiting till 6m for full on eating

I think that’s an amazing start! Also I love that you’re prioritizing allergen foods!
I was reading a book back when I was pregnant and newly pp. and it was talking about 3 meals a day so I was going all crazy on planning 3 meals in my head when baby approached 5m.
And when we had the doctors appointment to get the all clear on her being ready cause all the signs, she said 3 meals is way to many and to stick to one meal a day. So we did dinner as we all eat together and baby learns by the way you eat
Trying new foods, allergens, staying away from honey before 1, trying sips of water (I used a syringe when we were starting water, just a squirt here and there during meals)
I started off with veggies and bm purees but 2 weeks into that she no longer wanted purees when we were all eating. So we just took what we would make as a meal and cut food appropriately for her age
Seems like a great start, puree and finger food. Baby will eat as much or as little as they want.

Beef, bm, and avocado will give good fats. But you could also do sour cream/greek yogurt for dairy and fat/vitamins, tomato for acid? Lettuce either cooked and in the puree or just a centre rib cut piece? (Mostly for oral motor skills not necessarily for eating, but it does contain fiber)
