My mum looks after my kids two days a week for me. One is in school so it's just for an hour after school the other is pre school age. I use a childminder two days a week and I have one day off a week. My mum initially offered to help me but now all she does is complain. She is also very demanding, expects me to drop things for her at the weekend, buy her coffees and food when we are out and never says thank you and just moans about every aspect of looking after my kids. I've said I'll start using the childminder more but then she says no. I'm really confused as what to do. Has anyone else had a similar experience? We don't get free childcare here because we are in Wales. Thanks

Pay for the childminder.
You don't want someone who resents your children looking after them.
You're paying your mum in coffee and snacks so why not pay a professional who enjoys looking after them instead.
I've never used family for childcare as it just gets messy

I would just pay the extra for childcare to be honest x

Yes I’ve had a very similar experience with my first two children. I’ve just had my third and I’ve told my mum I will be using nursery 3 days per week opposed to 2 days nursery and 1 day with my mum

She probably didn’t realise how tiring it was and also how much of a tie it is. She clearly loves them as she wouldn’t have offered however there’s a difference between being childcare and being a grandparent. I imagine your second child will be off to nursery soon anyway which will make it easier on your mum. I assume you also thank her for looking after your children one day a week and don’t make her feel like she’s being taken advantage of either.
My brother had my mum babysit my nephew one day a week until he started school and now he’s moaning as my mum needs care and he lives near her. I also had my nephew one day a week. He had two days free childcare for four years so find it hard to sympathise with him although he forgets that!
I’m sure the occasional coffee still works out cheaper than a childminder for two children even if one is in school.
Quick question as a first time mum, is it normal for your baby to scream when being held by other people? My baby is 4 1/2 months old never had a problem being held by other people and it seems like overnight she will only be held by me and my husband if anyone else tries to hold her or pick her up including grandparents who she sees very regularly, she will just scream and cry and it takes me awhile to calm her down. I’m really hoping it’s just a phase but I don’t quite know what to do to get through it or if there’s anything I can do to be helping the situation it’s frustrating for us because it means we can’t hand her off to people to have a rest! but it’s also I’m sure frustrating for her grandparents who can’t hold her or have a cuddle with her. It also gets very awkward when they ask if they can hold her and all I want to say is no because I can see what’s about to happen…..

Hiya mamas!
Our neighbour’s turned 13 and I’m looking to get her a present, it’s been like 11 years since I was 13 so i have no clue what teens like nowadays😭😭 anyone got girls around the same age that can guide me towards something she’d like. I was thinking skincare or something but I’m sure her family already got her that, something adhd friendly would be nice as well which is why i was thinking them like craft kits which i enjoyed around that age but i think they’re advertised for younger kids so idk.
Thank you in advance💕

Hi girls🩷
What snacks are you giving your little ones? I’m looking for healthy convenient ideas… I’m always worried raw fruit and veg is a bit of a shocking hazard still so wondering what others are giving? I’d really rather not have to cook for a quick snack
Also if you’re giving snacks what time of day are you offering these? X

Long story short my partner and I only get one day together every week which is a Sunday. He looks after our girl on Mondays while I work and then he is working the rest of the week (long hours and not home until 10.30pm most nights)
Last Sunday he went fishing all day Sunday, last night he sprung it on me he was coming with me today to a party as he’s going fishing again (left 3.30am and said he will be back for 2pm) it’s now almost 4pm and he’s still not back and I’ve not seen him since yesterday morning briefly before he left for work.
Next Sunday he is out again all day fishing with his mate.
At the moment I am extremely run down with a chest infection and just feeling like I’m being pushed to one side. I understand he wants to be able to do his own things too on his day off but I’m starting to lose my patience because I am so exhausted and the thought of waiting 3 more weeks until I can have any sort of ‘rest’ is killing me.
I don’t think he is taking my feelings or needs into consideration but perhaps I am being selfish in wanting a rest? It’s not helping that our girl is so full on at the moment (22 months) who also has a chest infection and going through a sleep regression waking multiple times a night 😩 I am exhausted

What are everyone’s thoughts for their LOs born August 2023 on starting school? Are you sending them next September or waiting until the following year?
Our girl was born 6 weeks early (was due September and born August). She’s still in 2-3 size clothes and is definitely the smallest in her nursery class. Undecided on when to send her to school. Seeking advice/opinions please ❤️
