I personally would not. Even if we were closer to my in laws and if they were completely different and actually liked my kids lol. I wouldn’t at my parents either tbh.

I'm sad to say no, as this would sound like fun for them, but from my personal experience, children can be too curious, boys or girls, and it can start younger than we think. I trust my in laws though

We’re gonna have a hard no sleepover rule until I’m confident in our kids ability to understand their body and advocate for themselves if they’re uncomfortable. Even with family because both my husband and I were taught things by older cousins who just thought we were playing. If your gut is saying no, I would listen! Better to be overprotective than under when it comes to stuff like this.

We’re hard on the no sleepover rule, family included.
Don’t get me wrong both sides of the family adore my girls but no one’s protecting my girls the way me and my husband protect them

Nope we don’t do sleepovers. Family or not. I’m just not comfortable

That sounds like fun however even if my mil was alive although I completely trust her I don’t trust the house. There was no central heating, the stairs were a death trap and she was a hoarder. Possibly at my parents though. I’ve had my nephew stay for a week age 5 onwards however in a seperate room.

In laws? No, my parents? Yes.

I personally would, i wouldnt if they were older, i think oldest being 5, thats very young to be thinking the worst is going to happen,

It depends on your relationship with your in-laws. If they’re a big part of your family, then I’d say yes. I used to love sleepovers with my cousins when I was younger - male and female. There’s a balance between keeping you kids safe but allowing them to create fond memories too x

I would. When I was little I’d go to my aunts place and sleep in the same bed with 6 of my cousins and nothing ever happened apart from a few scary stories.
You can’t protect your child forever, if you’re going on the case something bad will happen to them the same could happen at their nursery/school but you wouldn’t stop them going there. Don’t let your child miss out on life & experiences just for safety let them live

I think it depends on your daughter's closeness to her grandparents and cousins. If she regularly sees them and is happy then yes. If not then no. It's a sad world when a lot of you see a 5 year boy as a potential predator.

If you trust your in laws then I don't see the issue with that at all
If you're not close or your gut is telling you no, then it's not a big thing to miss out on so young tbh

It depends on how close your daughter is to her cousins. And it definitely depends on how her cousins were raised and are being raised! Kids these days know a lot of things that they shouldn’t be knowing as a kid and you don’t want your kids being exposed to anything…..

Sounds like fun for them! When my nieces and nephews were little they’d have sleepovers all the time - some of their fondest memories. I personally would want my kids to have that experience.

If they would take her!

Do the other parents teach consent to their kids ? If yes maybe. But most of parents just don't and small kids with no information wants to discover and lots of abuses actually are between kids. Even young kids.

Yes, we allow sleepovers with cousins.

Yes. It's sad that so many people are painting a 5 year old child as a potential predator.

you must feel something in your gut to be asking dont ignore your intuition, also you say yes no your no will be confusing if u change your mind id keep it simple no sleep overs period

My best childhood memories are sleep overs at my nanny’s house with all my cousins. Now I wouldn’t let my child have a sleepover at a friends house.

Im shocked at how many people are saying no just in case, the oldest child is 5 .. FIVE. Like wtf. Why on earth would a 5 year old know anything or do anything like that. I feel more sorry for the 5 year old child & more concerned that parents are even thinking that.

That's a little wild, they should have them sleeping in the living room, where they can be heard and checked on!

I am not allowing any sleep overs. I hear to many stories about child abuse.

I wouldnt unless an adult sleeps in same room.
I was putting my son to bed after a nice day together, and he just came out with it. 10 minutes prior he said ‘ I love you mummy’ then he said ‘I hate you but you’re part of my family’ 🫠 His little sister gets a lot of my attention and my patience isn’t where it used to be, but this has just really thrown me!!! He’s a daddies boy and maybe our connection has slipped a little because of our daughter. Any advice?

Please hear me out as I am fully understanding of policies. My son has been going to nursery since June and after a long period settling in now really enjoys it. On Monday I sent him in and mentioned he had 2 teeth breaking through (1 being a molar) causing him a dribble rash. Within 15mins of leaving and still driving I get a call and eventually a few hours later was asked to pick him up. Nursery were adamant it was HFM (despite no other symptoms) and he was not allowed back for 3 days. Checked by a dr who has confirmed it is not HFM. He has not been in nursery all of this week, the longest he’s not been. I’ve had to take unpaid leave from my work and my husband a days holiday to allow me to work a few hours. We still have to pay over £160 this month including the missed days. I wouldn’t be annoyed if this was the 1st time. However last month we sent him in fine, 15mins later had a call to pick him up as he was ‘poorly’. He wasn’t. last month we paid over £140 including a missed day. It’s not even like they’re giving it a few hours, I’m being rung within minutes having sent my child in perfectly well. I wouldn’t if he wasn’t well and would be more understanding if he had been in for say 3+ hours. I can’t afford to keep having unpaid days off work or to be paying nursery fees when he isn’t in and it defeats the whole point of why we’ve opted for childcare if I can’t work

I stay at home with our daughter while my husband works. He's a wonderful husband and a good dad. He helps with the baby when he gets home, cooks dinner on a regular basis, and makes sure we have what we need.
Here's the issue: We are EBF right now because our baby will not take a bottle. I'm constantly feeding her, which is to be expected, but I feel so alone. Tonight she was so congested she couldn't latch (I had to go get the aspirator and use that) and my husband was just laying there, half awake, while she screamed. I know he's doing what he can most of the time. It's just exhausting because I pack the diaper bag, I wash the cloth diapers and pads, I know the difference in her cries, I'm the one teaching her baby sign language, I get her dressed when we're going somewhere, and I'm the one who basically gets thrown under the bus when people have negative things to say about our choices as parents (such as not making her wear socks all the time because she kicks them off anyway). I have a thousand questions running through my mind at any given moment in the day and in comparison it feels like he gets to just rest easy knowing I have things under control.
I am EXHAUSTED. I am touched out. I would really like to take a nap and not have to worry that my child is going to roll off of my chest into a potentially life threatening position because she wakes up every time I put her in her bassinet.
She is everything we hoped for and more. I just need a break and I doubt I'll get a real one until about 3-4 months from now. To those who breastfeed and work, I don't know how you do it.

Why is it so easy for him to cheat? Why does he do it? What do I do that is so difficult for him to love me and our almost 3 month old daughter? All I know is I need to break the cycle I’m done! I rather be a single mom and struggle than deal with this all over! My self esteem is gone! Self respect in myself gone I continues forgive and forgive and forgive just to be cheated on again I just want a good man that is loyal 🙄😟😞done

Can someone tell me if I’m in the wrong as I’m feeling really guilty! I have just been shopping, was parked in a child and parent space and as we came out of the shop my little man decided he was hungry, so instead of waiting the 30 mins to drive home, I sat in the back and fed him, when I got out, another mum started shouting at me that I was ‘inconsiderate’ as other people needed a space. Admittedly all the other parent and child spaces were taken. Am I in the wrong?

Sorry this is long. I have a 5 year old. Shes wonderful. Extremely smart, funny, silly, and very creative. We will be in the process of testing for gifted. She complained about school because as she said she didn't use her brain. She wasnt challenged. The teacher gave us little readers to read at home. Now shes doing 'decodable' books. (It usually has a reading rule in it. Last week was ch and it talked about chess). So thats her homework. The other kindergarteners homework is doing letters and sounds, numbers and sight words. Hers is the book and like 8 flashcards of different reading rules (ch, sl,gr, gh, ph, -nt, -nd, etc). So nothing too crazy. They are doing 1st grade reading with her and another kid and reading the decodable at school with a para. They all say she does great and never complains and tries and does amazing. Well we get home and get to homework and its constant crying and fussing and 'i cant sound it out! I dont know that word! I dont know what it says'. Today it was just she didn't want to. I said when you are ready we will read and i sat there. She started hitting me, kicking me, and then punching me which is new. I ignored it all otherwise I would've lost my shit. I said why are you doing this. It's not okay to hurt people. Then dad got home and he said he won't tolerate her hurting his wife and now she gets to do her homework with him. She cried for a few minutes while I went outside for 5 minutes. Came back in and she was done. Like wtf?!
We are in behavioral therapy and idk what to do anymore. When shes in that state thers no talking about feelings or anything. I just sit with her while she runs through it. Im just tired of being abused by a 5 year old but idk what to do anymore.
