My 14 month old boy has no interest in talking and I feel has hit no milestones like he doesn’t build blocks or anything. he only says mama , dada, and quack quack but hasn’t associated those words with anyone he just says it. what is going wrong?

I think each baby is different. My 14 months old also doesn’t say a word and only babbles. I wouldn’t be too worried

I know I’m totally in a different place in the country(California), but when my baby was not meeting a milestone, I was able to sign up for free infant/toddler physical therapy- they also do speech therapy. I wonder if there is some kind of program there that might be similar.

I looked up, it looks like there is one. It looks the same. It was so helpful for us!

Every animal is “hi ahh-gee” (hi doggy) 🙄

Not many words beyond that.

With speech, I always joke it’s like a light switch; there isn’t anything you can do to get them to talk until that switch turns on. For my oldest, the switch didn’t flip until he was almost 3. We got him evaluated by an early intervention service at 20 months and he didn’t qualify. We got him evaluated again almost 9 months later and he qualified and began speech (he was ~2.5 at the time) and still didn’t talk until he was closer to 3. My daughter is 14 months and just babbles… no real words and isn’t stacking blocks either. I’m not really concerned about it yet. Every child develops at their own pace. If you’re concerned, check with the pediatrician for a referral to an early intervention service.

I started narrating my life and telling him about myself and he started responding in babbles. Every now and then he says a word but for the most part he just observes. He is also 14 months

One of my twins babbles all day long and I can make some words out. The other one will say some words but not often she's very quiet until she's upset then she screams like she's on fire. She generally says ya, mama, dada, and shakes her head 'no' until she falls over.

Traveling by car

FTM to a one month old and we want to travel to visit family so they can meet the baby. The drive is only 4 hours away but online keeps saying to take breaks etc because its dangerous to have the baby in a car seat for more than 2 hours at a time. Anyone been thru something similar? And what did you do?

Inconsolable crying baby

Hi all, my baby is almost 6 weeks and in the past few days have been a real struggle as I breastfeed him, he temporarily falls asleep on me than suddenly wake up and cries non stop. No hunger or cold/warm temp or gassiness involved I believe - I tried also putting them in any position (on me as well), but nothing really works.
Quite sleep deprived therefore - both of us.

Anyone having something similar at month 2? How did you deal with it?

Any suggestion is welcome 🫶🏻

Tips for selling baby and maternity items?

I have lots of baby items (next to me, baby prep machine, monitor- all never used) to sell – what’s the best way to go about it? Any favourite platforms, tips for quick sales, or things I should avoid? Would love to hear your experiences!

Almost 5 months postpartum and feel terrible about myself

I just needed to rant and get this out.

I’m 5 months postpartum on the 21st and I have never felt so uncomfortable in my own skin. I look in the mirror and barely recognise myself.

I’ve tried different things, I’ve changed my hair, try doing my makeup, bought new clothes and it all seems to make me feel worse.

And the weird thing is, it’s not my c section scar or my stretch marks that are actually bothering me, I can admire they gave me my beautiful son. It’s literally EVERYTHING else about myself I just hate looking at myself in the mirror!

I don’t think it helps that I feel so lonely, I don’t feel like many people understand what I went through with my labour and what I’m going through MH wise now and just think I’m being ignorant but I physically don’t have the mental capacity to message people everyday and be in constant conversation but yet I crave human interaction and friends.

Does everyone feel this way at first and when does it go away?

Sleeping / naps

Just out of curiosity... how many people are putting their babies to sleep in their cribs at either bed time or during naps, then being in another room? Before 6 months? My babies bed time is between half 7 and 8 (ish) and the health visitor sayd i have to be in the bedroom at the side of her at all times... but i dont want to be in bed at 7 every night 😂
I have a monitor and a clip for her nappy that flashes when she breathes so I can see it?

Struggling

Hi everyone I’m really struggling at the moment. My baby ( 4 and a half months) is just so unhappy so fussy crying all the time. I spend my whole day trying to keep her calm or trying to calm her because she’s having a complete meltdown. She is definitely currently teething which I think is causing a lot of the issues I’m trying Calpol. I’m also trying teething gel and teething toys which I’ve put in the fridge but none of them seem to have much of an effect. I just need a bit of reassurance, a bit of positive thinking any other Mum’s out there having the same experience? I feel so alone in it but I’m sure I’m not and I just keep crying because my happy baby has become so miserable. I always start the day positively but by her 8th or 9th screaming meltdown I literally can’t cope and feel like I need to tap out ! I feel so frustrated and overstimulated plus annoyed that I can’t do much to help her ….i do have some support from parents who live locally and husband in the evenings but it’s still really really hard
