So I have a good MIL however she makes sly comments so my baby boy is called Timothée which is French version of Timothy right when she found out her first sentence was “won’t he get bullied” I said why cause I think it’s a unique name and I think it’s cute she said “cause it’s a shampoo brand” I have asked everyone ik abt it because she genuinely made me anxious and nobody even knows abt it it’s like not a thing anymore I believe so how is a kid going to know abt a shampoo brand it’s ridiculous!!! Then now he’s born she keeps just calling him Timothy and it’s annoying me cause it’s going to confuse him I’ve tried saying this to her but she seems to take offence to it and I don’t say it in a rude way I just go can u pls call him Timothée as I don’t want to confuse him

Wow! Soooooo rude and obnoxious. You can tell her to keep her negative opinions to herself. Also set a boundary if she doesn’t use his real name then you don’t need to be spending so much time with her. I’m so sorry. I think it’s a beautiful name. My kids have very unique names and I waited till after they were born to tell people bc I know how everyone has their opinions. If she won’t follow through with his name, what else won’t she follow through with when it comes to your wishes as a parent? She may decide at some point she knows better if she is babysitting.

This is really rude and your partner needs to have a word. Personally, I think Timothee is nicer than Timothy and the spelling is also nicer. Also, no idea what this shampoo brand is? She’s acting like you’ve called him L’Oréal 🤣
