EBF but staying away overnight so need to a milk stash

Hi all,

I’m going to a hen do overnight so will be away from my ebf 7 month old.
I don’t pump anymore I only did at the start to build supply and to help engorgement through the night as my LO slept through pretty much from a month old.

Now hoping to gain some time back for myself I’m wanting to build a supply so others can feed him but not sure how this will work?

He goes down about 7.30/8 and I won’t feed him again until earliest 5.30am but usually after 6. My body’s got used to no feeds between this time so when I’ve been pumping around 10pm to try to get some extra milk stored hardly anything is coming out?

Not sure what the best plan is to get the most milk I can’t do it in the day as it would mean him missing a feed and I don’t want to use formula. If I keep pumping 10pm will my milk start to increase for that time? If so how long can this take?
Would love to hear what worked for others in a similar position

Thanks in Advance!

You can try pumping after a feed and see if you get anything? You could also try using a haakaa on the opposite side while nursing to catch some letdown. Even getting a little each feed will add up over time. How many feedings will you miss when you’re away?

While pumping at the same time every day is good, it seems to be the frequency of the pumping sessions that matter more! You will end up making more milk at 10pm if you knee pumping at that time but you might get quicker results by adding extra pumping sessions through the day too. Don’t forget to eat and hydrate more to compensate for the extra production! Pumping on one side while feeding baby on the other can help, or looking at photos of your baby to stimulate that oxytocin.
Make sure your pump parts are replaced as needed too.
What I found worked for me was block feeding (only one boob) for around 6 hours and then pumping the other side. Probably not the best idea because I guess it risks mastitis but it was the only way I could get some expressed milk 😅

Help with talking!!

Hi all my kiddo is 2 1/2 and he refuses to talk. Does anyone have any advice on how I can get him to talk?! He follows everything I tell him to do he just won’t verbalize what he wants. I have contacted speech therapy and they said he didn’t qualify. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

9th percentile weight

Our 12 week old daughter was weighed today and has gone from middle of 9th/25th percentile to 9th percentile. She is exclusively breastfed so I am a little disheartened as no signs/ wasn’t expecting it. She is well and content in herself and has regular normal nappies. I am due to take her back in 4 weeks to check weight. They weren’t overly concerned but want to check in 4 weeks. Anything I can do in that time to help feed her up and get her back on track. She is exclusively breastfed on demand and is a good sleeper so fed once during night.

If you were walking on an isolated cycle path with no one else on it aside from a strange looking man, would you intervene if he was asking for help with an insect in his eye?

This happened to me the other day and it creeped me out, and I’m wondering if I was being over the top.

The man was hovering around a bike attending to it, so I assumed he had a bike problem, but then as soon as he saw me, he started walking towards me, and said he had an emergency and he needed me to look in his eye. I asked why and he said because an insect flew into it. His eye looked normal and he wasn’t squinting or anything like that, but kept saying it was an emergency and he needed me to look.

I said no and told him to asked a man. I said I didn’t feel safe on my own on the isolated path coming any closer to him. He stormed off angry and then kept turning around and just standing there looking back at me, which scared me even more.

Was I being over the top or unreasonably? Was I an arsehole for not helping him? Do you believe his story about his eye? This is now the fourth man who has approached me in this area with either a strange request or who has threatened me, so admittedly I’m on high alert at this point.

In my head I was thinking the minute I come close to this man, he’s going to do something to me because why can he just poke the insect out himself instead of asking a lone woman on a cycle path to inspect his eye?

Breastfeeding help

I'm struggling to understand how people do this 😭

I'm on day 3 and my nipples feel like they've been cut with glass. I cannot get baby to latch well. I've had advice from midwives and they've helped me multiple times now, and I always manage when they help, but as soon as I'm left to do it myself I just cannot get baby to latch deep enough and its so painful.

I tried expressing so I could still have milk to give baby but I'm not making enough milk yet for that to even be worth it tbh.

She wants to feed every 5 minutes, I can't keep up. My breasts feel empty and soft and she still wants to feed. I know this is because she's making my supply increase but it's constant. I can't do anything else, i can't put her down for anything, not even to go pee.

I have a toddler too and I'm just feeling tremendous amounts of guilt for not being able to even have 5 minutes to cuddle him 😔

How does this get better??? Please help!

Huckleberry app

Is anyone really following the huckleberry app sleep suggestions and is it working for you?
My baby is 9 weeks old and I just want to know if i should try it or not… monitoring wake windows and all that can be overwhelming especially when you’re sleep deprived… should I just follow baby’s cues and forget about apps?. TIA!

Favorite silly/random mom hack?

One of my recent ones: the little plastic containers that some pacifiers are sold in, which are meant for steam sterilizing in the microwave, are the perfect size for a menstrual disc 🙈 what is one thing you’ve found that makes your life the tiniest bit easier/more convenient as a mom?
