Would this annoy you or am I being sensitive?

Hi all,
I just want to know whether I'm letting my emotions get the better of me, or if I'd be justified in feeling annoyed.
For a bit of context, we live in the Yorkshire Dales and my father-in-law lives in Somerset, so it's a long journey that takes quite a bit of planning, especially with a toddler.
Last weekend, my father-in-law retired, so my husband went down on his own to celebrate with him. I stayed home with our little one, which was absolutely fine, I had no issue with that.
This coming weekend, we're all travelling down because it's my father-in-law's birthday and, naturally, he wants to see his granddaughter too. We've planned the journey with plenty of stops, so although it's a long drive, we've made it work.
The thing that's bothered me is that last night my father-in-law texted my husband asking if he'd come back down again the following weekend as well to play a round of golf because there's an event on at his golf club.
That would mean my husband driving from Yorkshire to Somerset for the third weekend in a row, and I'd be solo parenting for another weekend.
I think what upset me most wasn't even the golf itself, it was that it felt like there wasn't much consideration for our family time together. I completely understand my husband wanting to see his dad, and I have no problem making the journey when there's a genuine family occasion. But after we've already made the effort for his retirement and then his birthday, asking him to make another 500-mile round trip the very next weekend for golf just feels like quite a big ask.
Am I being unreasonable for feeling a bit put out by it, or would you feel the same

I'd probably roll my eyes at the audacity and my husband would 100% say no to the request but I wouldn't be annoyed as such, just shows the guy is a bit clueless and possibly lonely or even a bit lost without his job. Maybe he really enjoyed having the visits and wants to keep up the momentum. Unless there's something else going on with him I'd just assume he was clueless.

What does your husband think - from context I’m assuming he wants to go?

It’s a lot, and I find it a little odd that your husband would want to go again instead of having time with his family. If he wants to go I’d suggest all going down for the golf thing and celebrating his dad’s birthday that weekend instead 🤷🏼‍♀️

My husband’s family live locally, but my family don’t (they live 120 miles away so not quite as far as your FIL). If this were my dad, I’d have been planning one trip for all 3 events and I think that’s perfectly reasonable. Travelling with a toddler like you say is a lot. Also just travelling 3 weekends in a row is a lot.. I’d rather kill 3 birds with 1 stone and have the other 2 weekends more chilled at home with my family.

Why can I not do basic things I need to do

I'm really embarrassed to admit it but at the moment I'm only showering maybe once or twice a week. I can't bring myself to brush my hair, so that only gets done maybe once a week, and I can only make myself brush my teeth at night before bed, but it's a massive mental struggle. I barely drink water, I barely leave the house, I just feel so burnt out. Any time I get a free moment that I could use to do these things, I end up just sleeping or trying to catch up on housework instead. I just feel like the overall running of the house is more important than me showering or getting myself clean and tidy. I have 2 children, one is 3 and the other is 10 weeks old. I don't even have the reasoning of breastfeeding because I'm not doing that anymore, so baby is on formula bottles in a pretty predictable schedule, so I always know when she'll be down for a nap after a feed. But it's like I just get paralysed by all the things I need to do in the house, or trying to squeeze in time with my 3yo, that my own self care just isn't a priority. It's not even on the list anymore. I'm so tired and feel like I can't stand the look of myself at the moment either, which I know is common postpartum. I just hate my weight, I hate how long and scraggly my hair is, I hate my nails growing uneven, I hate my hair legs and armpits but shaving is another chore I cannot face. I just feel fed up.

But after saying all that, my kids are well looked after, I bathe them every other day, brush teeth morning and night, nails trimmed etc. It just feels like that's my priority right now and my own self care is a massive chore.

Please don't judge I know some people will have something horrible to say

Should I stay or should I go?

I’m half way in and half way out of my marriage at this point. I do not feel like I have a genuine partner. He gets defensive over things so easily, can never take accountability, and has issues with my family. The drama is endless with him. He was previously arrested (all charges dropped and erased from his record), he attempted to fight my father, he’s a full blown alcoholic but refuses to get help, the list goes on. I would love to leave but i’m terrified of being forced to share custody of our two small children. We have a 3-year-old daughter and 3-month-old son. My husband works a ton of hours to the point I sometimes go days without seeing him, sometimes even a full week. His schedule is all over the place but he makes very good money so I handle home life. If I do leave…what are the odds of him getting any custody if there’s proof of his drinking including while driving? I worry about their safety, and me staying at least guarantees they’re safe cause i’m always present. Help. I’m in NJ if that helps at all. Also ask any questions, i’ll give further info just didn’t want this to be super long.

You’re staying at your boyfriend’s house and accidentally forgot your toothbrush. Which of the two are you doing?

Baby still not eating

Is anyone else's baby still not eating solids? My baby is 9 months old tomorrow and eats hardly anything. When he does, he gets fed up after a couple of tiny spoonfuls and refuses to eat any more. He seems to hate spoons so we're trying to give finger foods so he can feed himself but most goes on the floor. We are nowhere near 3 meals a day and I feel like we've failed him. My older child ate everything from 6 months old so didn't expect to be struggling this much. I'm absolutely hating weaning and dreading meal times so any help or advice is appreciated!

I'm so stressed. / VENTING!!

I have a baby that I take care of all by myself. I do have a partner, but at times all he will mainly do is just watch her. I'm the only one who actually you know takes care of her and sometimes it gets to me. And I have talked to him about it like a couple times, I'm like I need help. We both need to do things but in the end it ends with me taking care of her by myself like usual at this point I just accepted it it doesn't matter anymore but I'm just like to the point where I'm just done. Sometimes I just feel like crying, and I don't drink but I want to just drink. I just want to freaking like I don't know feel better but right now I'm just upset and stressed. I want to go outside and do things but I don't have my driver's license or permit because I'm lazy and can't do anything so I rely on my partner for that a lot. My baby is on oxygen and that is one of my main stressers. I feel like I'm not able to help her in that way like I just want someone to do it for me basically I want her off oxygen I want to be able to you know just not worry about it but I do all the time and I hate it. She spits up all the time to the point she can't breathe and that scares me so bad that I want to put her back in the NICU. because I'm scared. But I also just want her with me at all times too, so I feel bad for thinking that way. I'm struggling right now and I don't know how to get help.

Husband attitude

My husband works from home and I’m on maternity leave, we always cross paths and talk throughout the day. Today he was tired but hasn’t spoken a single word to me until it blew up this evening. I’d also been the dentist today and my mouth is sore.

I said I felt like I’d been given the silent treatment all day, he said he’s allowed to be tired and that I always make things about me, and I’ve started something out of nothing. He said “do you know how hard it is going to work on hardly any sleep”, I said yes as looking after our 8 month old is a full time job (I do most night wakes but he helps sometimes). I get that work is hard but I feel like I’ve done something wrong, when I got upset he reiterated it’s not all about me and told me to fuck off which ended the conversation (I know this is unacceptable)
My baby was in the room and I hate talking in front of her like that ☹️

She is EBF and hasn’t slept well for four months so I’m up most of the night and do bedtime which can take 1-2 hours. Just feel like he has two sides?

Oh well it ruined my whole day anyway. Whenever anything he says upsets me and I confront it, he tries to joke about it and says I’ve spat my dummy out or calls me a snowflake, he even did the invisible violin the other day.

He’s not like that often and he is a good dad.. I’m not sure what I want from this post as I don’t feel I’m in the wrong
