Breast pads

I’m EBF and going through disposable breast pads like there’s no tomorrow. The reusable ones just leak right through as they’re fabric. I’m 5 weeks PP. how long until I can just wear my nursing bras without a pad as they get all bunched up each time I go to feed and I just want to stop having to buy so many!

I’m 11 weeks PP, EBF and still wear them as one side leaks when I feed from the other side. I would recommend the Lasinoh ones. They’re much better quality than the supermarket own brand ones if you can afford it. They have the sticky bits on both sides which helps them not get as bunched up

I was the same I think by about 3 months pp it was pretty settled but I would still leak sometimes in the morning when my partner would give baby a bottle instead of boob, so I could get some extra sleep, I don’t remember exactly when that stopped but I want to say by about 4/5 months pp I was completely leak free, all women are different though. My sister said she stopped leaking by about week 8, and she like myself was exclusively breastfeeding so who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️😅 I used the lil-lets brand disposable ones

Ermm… I still use them at 6 months pp😅 leaks are rare but I never want to risk it. But now I’m changing them way less frequently so not going through them as quick.

I am using the lasinoh breast pads as I am a heavy leaker, particularly when nursing, these seem to do the trick.

Stopping sterilising

My son is almost 5 months and has just started solid foods (I know it’s early but we were having problems with CMPA and trapped gas so it seemed like the best way to help him) I don’t sterilise his spoons, bowls and plates, they just get washed with hot soapy water. Can I stop sterilising his bottles too? Or should I be sterilising his plates and things? He goes swimming every week and ends up with pool water in his mouth and is constantly putting toys and his hands in his mouth it just seems pointless to me🤷🏻‍♀️ when did everyone else stop?

Hair pulling

My 8 month old is obsessed with my hair at the minute. He's so fascinated by it and loved grabbing to put towards his mouth or even just play with in his hands, the issue is he ends up pulling it and boy do these babies have strong grip. I'm already going through crazy hair loss and him pulling my hair out is making it worse, any tips? :(((

This feeling

I might come off as ungrateful or like im not cut out for motherhood with this one but why don't we warn each other beforehand about this emotional situation? I wish someone had briefed me about how someday i'll be watching my son sleep and ill break down crying because of how intense the feeling of admiration is, and how love this big is heavy and feels a little too much like grief. it would have been nice to know that i would be so consumed with this love that has nowhere to go. there's no little pamphlet explaining how "you'll never know another love like it" genuinely means that it will overflow from you and your child and there will be nowhere else for it to go, and it will feel so intense and like too much but in the most beautiful way.
anyway, i think we should try and find a better way to articulate just how intense that feeling can be, so other new moms don't feel insane when they join the club

Sterilising the calpol syringe

Hi guys, my little one has his jabs this morning. I only have an electric steam steriliser and I’ve just googled and it said you shouldn’t sterilise the syringe that way. Have people been sterilising them? And have the sterilised them in the steam steriliser???

Contact naps

VERY sensitive 5mo will ONLY contact nap. Which is usually fine except when we’re in the car. She will become extremely disregulated and scream really really badly, even if my husbands driving and I’m in the back with her singing, holding her hand etc. It means we absolutely cannot drive anywhere as wake windows are still around 2h. Even worse when I’m driving because I feel like I can’t safely concentrate on the road with how intense the screaming is.

I’ve already tried to reduce contact naps for the past week trying everything. She has finally napped in her pram the last 2 days for the first nap (takes ages and a real struggle), but I’ve noticed it’s made her even more clingy and sensitive throughout the day and not helping with the car.

Any advice? Specifically for the car issue? I don’t mind contact naps at home.
