Redundancy on mat leave

Just how hard is it to get rid of someone on mat leave? I work in a pretty unsteady industry and due to law changes the industry I work in is getting harder to remain profitable. Theres been chatter of redundancies but nothing confirmed apart from a company wide hiring freeze but I've gone through the redundancy process already with this company last year and was lucky enough to get a new role within the business. I went on mat leave end of May and due back end of Feb but I can't stop panicking about possible redundancy. My role is quite niche so finding a similar job after is neigh on impossible but I've been in this type of role for a number of years now so finding a different job will also prove difficult. Just how hard would it be for them to make me redundant and are the maternity protection laws as protective as they make out ?

Should i get a gift or be petty

When I got married in Cyprus, several guest didn't get wedding gifts. I wasnt too fussed because in my eyes the gift was them being present.
But a simple card would have been nice!!

Any who this guest has invited me to their wedding in Japan. The flights a lot have already cost £3000 for us and our kid. (Bare in mind a flight to Cyprus is under £100) I haven't even looked at the cost of accommodation yet.

Now the guest is do I get them a gift? I'm already spending like 4 times the amount they spent to attend my wedding and they didn't even bother with a card.
