Hey everyone! So I need some inspiration for how I can get my 5 year old to go to bed at a decent time. So here’s the gist, I have had a problem with my 5 year old wanting to stay up till 12 sometimes 1 in the morning! with her school starting back this Friday I really need to get her in bed by at least 7 so she can be up by 6. Does anyone else have this problem or has any suggestions on how to help. Please and thank you.

What does the night/bed time look like? Try to stick to a routine even if it’s loose. We start at 6:30, kids have a bath or shower. 7pm is brush teeth and get pjs on and then they have 45 mins to play in their rooms. By 8pm we read a book and tuck them in. My son has a harder time going to bed so he usually reads in bed till about 9/9:30. As long as he’s in bed and quiet he’s allowed to stay up. We bought a book light so he can read and not have his room light on. He also uses a sound machine. Even if the times don’t match up we always try to make sure they get 20 mins of play time followed by reading and bed. Being consistent helps huge, it can be difficult at first but just try to stay firm and redirect her back to what is you’re asking. You could even start a chart and for each step she finishes she gets a star and if she goes to sleep on time she gets extras! That’s how we initially got our kids to go to sleep in their own beds without us having to lay with them to sleep! Good luck

I’d talk to her dr and see if she can give her a sleeping medication! My 8 year old son has been on clonadine and it helps a lot. It’s 0.1 MG!
