If its painful they aren't latched properly you need to make sure baby is fully on your nipple to where around it is not visable aswell. I general sometimes your sensitive so you will find it might hurt you for the first week.

How many weeks PP are you? It does get better! It’s well worth sticking it out in my opinion for many reasons. I wanted to give up so many times but I’m so glad I didn’t now I’m 8 weeks PP. There will be local breast feeding groups or ask to speak to a feeding specialist at the hospital, sounds like your baby may have a shallow or bad latch x

Your health visitor can refer you to a lactation consultant. I found it really helped us, no more sore nipples! Lots of people are complaining about formula prices raising unfortunately, so that may bring new challenges along the way... ❤️

I would really recommend getting yourself a plug in pump to start with (wall pump) you can normally find one on vinted at a fraction of the full price. I have a spectra S2 and it works really well for me. I got some cheap wearables from Amazon to see how I responded to those and then eventually upgraded them too. Most pump parts you can order off of Amazon. I'm 6 months into exclusively pumping and it is tiring but my baby never got the hang of breastfeeding and this works for us.
I will add that pump parts do need replacing fairly often, valves every month and diaphragms every 3 months minimum otherwise it will affect your supply. Feel free to reach out if you have any pumping questions x

Am I being crazy?

Hi, so I just came on my period and yesterday afternoon I kicked my husband out for being too rough with my baby, he refused to see my point of view and instead made me feel bad, he’s done this so much.

He struggles to put her to sleep so he results to essentially forcing her to sleep, he picks her up roughly and plays with her too intensely for my liking she’s only three months so I don’t want to hurt her but he just doesn’t see it that way, whenever he puts her to sleep she screams but it’s different with me? I can’t tell whether I overreacted or not, I’m currently dealing with postpartum depression, anxiety and psychosis, I’m scared I overreacted.

Are they gaslighting me?

I’m 10 weeks having my first baby and I’m really not loving pregnancy at all. I’ve never been this exhausted in my life and still have to work full time. And my sisters, mum and partner have all said similar things like ‘you’re only a couple months’ and ‘it’s still early it gets worse’ trying to essentially say it can’t be that bad yet because you’re not pregnant enough. And I’ve never felt more alone in anything in my life. My partner is so supportive but when it comes to this he just cannot understand what I’m going through. So I have no one to vent to without feeling judged. When I talk about my pregnancy I see my sisters eyes all glaze over like ‘here she goes again’ as if it’s not the biggest change in my entire life. Just feel lonely.

Should I try sleep training?

I have an 18mo who currently cannot link sleep cycles without me. This has been going on for 3 months. Naps and night-time. So I have resulted in contact napping and cosleeping. I have zero alone time and ability to do anything for myself.

I can't let my kid cry it out. That's never going to work for us. She has a sleep association with my hair, she twirls it whilst sucking her thumb. She also gets separation anxiety if I leave her. I have ordered a lovey and will attempt to transition her from my hair to the lovey but I'm aware this could take weeks if she even allows for the transition.

How else can I look to sleep train her to sleep independently again and connect sleep cycles? When she did sleep through my husband was putting her down but now she almost has a panic attack if he attempts.

Any help/advice appreciated, from an exhausted mama 😩

Please help — colic / hours of crying every evening

My little girl is 9 weeks old and we’re really struggling with what seems to be colic. I’m hoping someone who’s been through similar can tell me what helped, or even just reassure me that it eventually gets better!

She’s generally much happier in the morning, but from around 5pm she can become really unsettled and cry/scream for hours. She squirms, tenses up and seems really uncomfortable. Sometimes it feels like absolutely nothing I do settles her.

Her daytime naps are also awful at the moment. She’ll often only sleep for around 10 minutes before waking back up, despite me trying everything to help her nap. I’m wondering if being overtired is making the evenings even worse.

She’s mainly breastfed, is gaining weight well and feeds plenty. I’ve tried burping, bicycle legs, keeping her upright, rocking, walking around, white noise, contact naps etc. Sometimes something works briefly, but nothing consistently helps.

Has anyone had a baby like this? Did anything genuinely make a difference — probiotics, changes to feeding, something for wind/reflux, changing your diet while breastfeeding, or working on naps?

And if your baby had really bad colic, when did you notice it starting to improve? I’m finding the hours of crying every evening really difficult and would love to hear from people who’ve come out the other side ❤️

2nd day in hospital

Hi girlies 🤍 Any breastfeeding/pumping tips for a new mumma please? 🥹🍼 It’s only day 2 since my baby arrived and I’m trying to get my milk supply going. Bub is currently in NICU with jaundice and has been vomiting his feeds, including my colostrum and feeds through his tube, so he’s currently on an IV drip 🥺💔 which means I’m not really able to keep latching him like I normally would to stimulate my supply. I’ve been expressing/pumping instead, but it’s been sooo inconsistent — yesterday I managed around 50 mL altogether, but today I’m barely getting anything. 😭 I know my actual milk can take a few days to come in, especially after a C-section, but I’d love to know what genuinely helped you girls get your milk going when you couldn’t have bub constantly on the breast — pumping routines, foods/drinks, massage, skin-to-skin when possible, anything! And when did your milk properly come in? 🥹🤍🍼
