Both me and my partner works full time, and unfortunately have to rely on my mother for help with filling in the gaps of our paid childcare. My issue is everytime I pick him up, he’s got another bump or bruise on his face or knees. I definitely don’t think she’s intentionally hurting him but my argument is she can’t be paying attention to him for him to hurt himself so often. It’s always “he hit his face off the table trying to climb onto the chair” and “he was running and tripped” and don’t get me wrong things happen but it seems excessive. It’s even more embarassing at nursery drop off when they ask what’s happened, my response is generally “i’m not sure, it happened at grandmas house” just makes me feel like it sounds like he spends a lot of time there and he really doesn’t. Few hours a week and that’s it. When I’ve approached her about it, i’ve asked how come every time i pick him up he’s covered in bumps and bruises, her response is “well I let him play” there is a vast difference between letting him play and letting him hurt himself. Not sure how to approach this one again as she’s so quick to act a victim, and we really do rely on her to bridge our childcare gap

"Mum, I love you. My son loves you. We all appreciate the support you give with childcare, we would be lost without you. But the reality is that X doesn't get these many bumps and bruises with anyone else on a regular basis. They don't happen with me, partner, or at nursery. I totally understand that toddlers will toddle and fall but mother to mother, I would just like you to see if you can be a little bit more careful. Are there areas of the house where he gets more bumps? Could we avoid those areas?" Etc etc

Is her house sufficiently toddler proofed, does she make the effort to clear away any hazards eg pushing furniture to the side to give toddler more free space to play I.e coffee table which I see as a hazard for curious toddlers. Like above person say be curious find out where and how these injuries are happening and if something can be done to minimise them, it might not all be lack of supervision
Hi Mamas, I am switching from working mom life to SAHM life this fall. Specifically it will be at the end of October. My son is 17 months now and will be 19 months when I am fully stay-at-home parenting.
Picture shared of my little guy trying on sunglasses as tax :)
1. What unexpected advice would you give me for this period now while I am still employed?
2. How would you handle the daycare to stay at home switch for my son's sake? 1 week of 3-4 days at day care, 1 week of 1-2 days, and then done? Slower transition?
3. On the scale of super regimented routine to absolute chaos, each day is different -- where are you? Is it by choice? What works and doesn't work with that style? Some moms swear by chaos and others swear by routine.
4. For moms who have made the switch when their little one was between 1 and 2, please tell me all the good, bad, and ugly about the switch.
5. We have a zoo pass and a museum pass (both gifts). What other kid friendly passes do you recommend?
6. What is the financial life saver trick that you swear by as a SAHM?
7. If anyone wants to be my SAHM mentor, please message me... I'm excited but nervous!

Got the below text from my babysitter. We're trying to work on potty training, but what is the best way to handle this, without him having to wear long pants since we live in Florida and it's HOT down here! He's 26 months and I also have a 7 month old that she watches during the day

I didn’t mean to, it was on impulse and I feel terrible. I was trying to change her diaper and she was thrashing and kicking me. Next thing I knew, I smacked her bare butt. She’s 20 months old and I know the behaviors that have been irritating me are normal for her age. I’ve had such a short fuse and been short on patience this last week and I don’t know how to fix it. I’m looking for any advice. I don’t want to treat her this way or be this kind of mom.

Does anyone else feel like they’re just not the mum they thought they’d be?
I feel like I took getting pregnant so seriously, I knew I’d have to be patient and caring etc etc. I thought I absolutely can be those things and I’m ready to do it!
And I think really I am patient and caring and 9/10 I’d do the right thing and help people, but being a mum and there not being a choice of whether to care and be patient and instead having to be these things allllll the time just does my head in! It’s just exhausting to care all the time but I don’t feel like I can let up because what if i fuck him up?!
I’m 6 months in and I just find myself bored of trying to entertain the baby all the time, but if I don’t he just screams and cries and I just feel my patience massively dwindling - I’m just a bit disappointed in myself for acting/feeling this way 😫 I thought I’d take to it a bit more naturally!

Hi everyone, my baby is 13 weeks old. I have always felt that things have been up and down some good days and weeks and some not so good but this last week I have been finding myself struggling more than ever. I have cried every single day I just feel very overwhelmed. I’m so so so tired. My husband works all day so I’m on my own every day though I do have visitors like my in-laws and my parents only live around the corner so I go and see them quite a lot. I do try and get out for walks and I do try and keep myself busy but a lot of the time it feels like I’m just going through the motions, he’s around in the evenings and I get a little bit of a break. I also do every overnight so all of the feeds and changes throughout the night. One of the things I’m struggling most with is I’m really struggling with myself confidence as a mother, my baby will cry for 20 or 25 minutes. I will try everything I can and nothing will work and I won’t be able to calm her and I will just start crying and get really overwhelmed. I feel like other mums wouldn’t get so overwhelmed so quickly and it makes me feel like I’m rubbish and I lack patience and resilience. I’ve heard of mums whose babies cry for hours and hours upon end and I feel a bit pathetic that I can’t even hear my baby cry for 20 or 25 minutes without falling apart, I can’t work out if I have some postpartum depression or if I’m just really struggling with the reality of being a Mum and struggling with the tiredness et cetera that go with it.
