Second time mum (currently have a 5 year old and 7 months pregnant with a girl on the way). My partner (married 8 years, together 11) has sprung on me out of the blue that he is leaving as he feels like there has been no emotional connection between us for 18 months!! Never once spoke about any of this with me. Won’t explain any whys or even consider trying to work things out.
I’m at a loss of what to do, how to cope and make a safe place for me, little boy and the baby yet to be born.
Any advice?!

So sorry to hear this! My ex did the same to me really suddenly (we didn’t have children) and it turned out he had met someone else .. using the “emotional connection” sounds like a cop out to me and not the real reason perhaps? If I were you I would focus on keeping your home, let him move out .. give him no attention as if he doesn’t exist and focus now on keeping things consistent for your 5 year old, and plan ahead for when your baby arrives .. he’ll come back … whatever it is won’t work out and he’ll realise what he’s missing out on with you all as a family .. the most powerful thing you can do, is be really happy and confident solo parenting .. like he’s not even needed … that will really hurt him and de-emasculate him x

He has definitely found someone else. This is the same thing my husband is doing. Literally using the emotional connection thing as an excuse. I’m 23 weeks pregnant and my husband was doing the same thing

It’s so wrong how he can say you have no emotional connection for 18 months but he had sex with you 7 months ago and likely more I am sure.
I would speak to him and recommend you attend relationship counselling together if you still love him and he sticks to the emotional connection issue. I’m sorry to say I agree with the ladies above and he if is not willing to do this he has likely met someone else.
As Amanda says if he wants to leave let him go and you stay in your house. You deserve better, I’m sorry you are going through this x
Thanks for the comments ladies! My issue is I still love him and want to make it work not just for me but for the children as well.
I’ve suggested counselling and the response was it won’t change anything I’d only be doing it to placate you. Even said he would stay and just “pretend” everything was fine but that would only last for a year
I’m new here and not too sure how this works . I literally have 0 friends and I’m tired of being so lonely 😂 I love doing crafts with my boys and going on small shopping trips (Walmart is my favorite)😂 I’m quiet at first but once I get to know you I’m a open book . I’m a sahm and take pride in being a momma.

I just need to rant.
Me n my baby daddy have been together for a year and a half and we have a 4month old child and he has his 5year old child that we have full time. I’m not trying to complain by any means because I’m thankful I’ve been able to be a SAHM the last 4 months n I get that thrown in my face constantly moral of the story I go back to work this week and i ultimately feel lost and not myself and my baby daddy doesn’t really help matters I do everything with the kids he takes his son out with him when he goes somewhere but I’m always stuck at home with the baby because he goes n does things that a toddler can do but a baby can’t. He doesn’t spend time w me or the baby and I feel like me n my child aren’t wanted around but anytime I have tried to leave him (bc he cheated in the past idk if he still is) he’s told me he will get full sole custody of my child n I don’t think that’s fair to me when I haven’t done anything wrong. Also anytime I ask him to watch the baby while I shower (15 mins max) it’s always “I’m tired” or “I’m dirty” he has not changed a SINGLE dirty diaper he’s fed the baby twice and that was in the hospital after I had the baby and he’s only held the baby and played with the baby 6 times max, I just feel like me n my child aren’t wanted around here. I just feel alone and I’m not trying to complain bc I don’t have things hard and someone always has it worse than me but me n my child get no attention whatsoever from him and anytime baby cries he just yells for me and doesn’t even try to calm the baby down.

My bd has just not been there or present. My inbox is full of two or three intro conversations only to be left on read. You didnt even get the chance to get to know me, and being left on read is the best you could do? Am I the only one that craves uncomfortable adult conversations? Also if I did something wrong (which is hard to read into because the most you know about me is in one sentence) I would like to know why. Anyone else? I got atleast 15 messages left on read.
