I have a 14 month old and I’m loving life with her . She’s amazing . I love motherhood . Never felt love like it . BUT the first 4 month of her life I cannot describe . I never felt that way in my entire life . She didn’t string more than an hour of sleep together until about 6 months and still wakes up minimum 3 times at 14 months . But temperament wise she’s a lot easier. She had all the things as a newborn like colic , tongue tie , never could latch and had to use nipple shield for a whole year , threw up minimum 6 times after a feed until 7 months , severe jaundiced , dropped weight centiles until 8 months . I had really bad pp anxiety and depression . The worst sleep deprivation and hallucinations . I can’t even look back at it . The reason I’m saying this is I’ve always wanted two or three kids . And now I’m questioning it because of those first few months . Did anyone have a really bad experience first time around but a different one next time around or was it worse . I remember at the time promising myself I’d never do it again . I just don’t know .

I have had two children and I can say raising both of my children were total opposites

My first daughter is currently 21 months and my second daughter is currently 3 months. My first daughter was born at 36wks because I had pre-e and she was slightly jaundiced. She never slept through the night until she was over a year old. She has a tongue and lip tie and we used a nipple shield for about 8 weeks. And I had awful pp depression.
My second daughter has a perfect latch, has slept through the night since a few weeks old, I had her at 37wks due to high bp, slight jaundice. But both of my girls sleep and I feel fantastic.
But there is always a chance your second will be either way, every child is different

Every kid and mom is different 🩷 That said, I had a similar(ish) experience with my daughter except my birth was traumatic (c section for vasa previa) and we were in the hospital for almost 3 months total with the NICU stay. I was also re hospitalized 2x postpartum for bleeding then for psychosis because I hallucinated too. My daughter is 3.5 and still doesn’t sleep through the night unless we co sleep. She’s never independent played, we’ve done 3 months of OT, the therapist said some kids just don’t independent play but are otherwise developmentally “normal”. All that said, the older she’s gotten and the more her personality develops, I feel confident in her being an only child, to the point of having a tubal ligation. However, my husband and I have discussed fostering older kids (5+) once our daughter is older if our feelings change about raising an only child 🩷
I feel awful writing this. Me and my lovely husband haven’t been together long - 14 months which I know sounds crazy! I love him so much. We have a 5 week old who I adore more than anything. But I miss it being just me and my husband so much. We’re snapping at each other and I feel stressed all the time. It was a really difficult pregnancy towards the end and this is maybe even more difficult. I’m mourning the ease of our old life (which I know didn’t last long!!) I’m a bit sensitive and wanted to just put this out there. Any insights?

When your child is having a tantrum... Do you ever just think in your head shut the hell up?
I feel bad for thinking it. But I'm only human. Thankfully I don't project and remain patient on the exterior. But interior I'm shouting in my head

The first thing I think of (after are they ok) when my husband says he's at the ER because our son got stung half a dozen times by wasps was "where are his glasses? He can't see without his glasses"
My son doesn't wear glasses.
He's fine btw

I have an almost 2 year old daughter
She’s my whole life I adore her
I had a bit of a meltdown yesterday
We found out we’re having another daughter & I absolutely weeped like I mourned a son that was never meant for me
I dreamed up an entire world with my daughter & this second child being a son & it’s hit me so hard knowing now that won’t be my reality
I’m finding it really difficult to accept
Has anyone felt this way
I see all kinds of families around me with & without children with boys with girls with a mix etc
I am so grateful for everything I have
I just can’t help this feeling
My heart aches
