I have an almost 2 year old daughter
She’s my whole life I adore her
I had a bit of a meltdown yesterday
We found out we’re having another daughter & I absolutely weeped like I mourned a son that was never meant for me
I dreamed up an entire world with my daughter & this second child being a son & it’s hit me so hard knowing now that won’t be my reality
I’m finding it really difficult to accept
Has anyone felt this way
I see all kinds of families around me with & without children with boys with girls with a mix etc
I am so grateful for everything I have
I just can’t help this feeling
My heart aches

I think just be grateful God is giving you another healthy baby regardless of the gender, maybe he knew that your daughter needed a best friend.

There are some people that would even have a baby even if it was a girl

My purse was a boy and my last two was girls and I was so happy cause I never thought I would have a daughter. We all are entitled to what we want but be grateful some people can’t have children or try and try again until you get what you want.

Believe me once you see you little girl’s face you will never regret not having a boy and you daughter will have long life bestie that she would relate to in almost everything , i was the same like you i have a girl and just gave birth to my second girl 2 months ago , I’m not gonna lie i was also deceived at first when i found out i was having a girl since i knew what it meant for my husband to have a son and that i don’t want to get pregnant again but since i had my second baby i feel like i never want to have a boy girls are cute and sweet and when i see my sis with her son i thank god i only have girl as boys are harder to raise so please don’t feel sad as you would only wish for healthy baby and that soo many people go through shit to only get one child and that we are blessed with our little princesses

You’re valid to have those feelings. I wanted a son first and i got a daughter and while i adore her deeply part of me kinda misses the fact that i didnt have one yet.
You’ll adore your children no matter what but i understand what you mean.

Your feelings are valid! I'm sure that with time you will settle into having them and hopefully be able to enjoy their relationship. Parenthood can be difficult balance of positive and negative moments and its okay to be sad as long as you feel like you are giving them what you are capable of giving at the moment!

Your honesty and vulnerability is so admirable.
It's really ok to grieve the life you'll never have, and reflect on what having a son or daughter means to you. Perhaps the unconscious is at play, and your relationship with your siblings or parents may have impacted your response to learning about your second daughter.
You did give them both a sibling, and that's a selfless achievement for you and a gift for everyone.
I suppose you'll always carry this grief in some ways, and it's a human thing. But you'll also get to celebrate the beautiful sisters who will keep inspiring each other as they grow. 💖💖👯👯

“Just be grateful” ???
Imagine if every post on Peanut had this response. Husband not helping around the house? Just be grateful you have a husband. Kids being hard work? Just be grateful you have kids. Where is everyone’s empathy? 😓
Gender disappointment is real and your feelings are valid. You are grieving what you thought the future would look like, and that’s okay. Because it may be even more beautiful than you could have imagined. God has given you another girl for a reason, even if you cannot see it yet. In the meantime, allow yourself to feel the feels without guilt. You are human. And pregnant! And hormonal. You will get through this 💗 and if you still long for a boy in your heart, that’s okay too. Because you cannot help your feelings and shouldn’t be shamed for them x

Your daughter is going to have a sister and having a sister is so precious. I wouldn’t know what I would do without mine. She will have a best friend and a confidant for life x
I feel awful writing this. Me and my lovely husband haven’t been together long - 14 months which I know sounds crazy! I love him so much. We have a 5 week old who I adore more than anything. But I miss it being just me and my husband so much. We’re snapping at each other and I feel stressed all the time. It was a really difficult pregnancy towards the end and this is maybe even more difficult. I’m mourning the ease of our old life (which I know didn’t last long!!) I’m a bit sensitive and wanted to just put this out there. Any insights?

When your child is having a tantrum... Do you ever just think in your head shut the hell up?
I feel bad for thinking it. But I'm only human. Thankfully I don't project and remain patient on the exterior. But interior I'm shouting in my head

The first thing I think of (after are they ok) when my husband says he's at the ER because our son got stung half a dozen times by wasps was "where are his glasses? He can't see without his glasses"
My son doesn't wear glasses.
He's fine btw

I have a 14 month old and I’m loving life with her . She’s amazing . I love motherhood . Never felt love like it . BUT the first 4 month of her life I cannot describe . I never felt that way in my entire life . She didn’t string more than an hour of sleep together until about 6 months and still wakes up minimum 3 times at 14 months . But temperament wise she’s a lot easier. She had all the things as a newborn like colic , tongue tie , never could latch and had to use nipple shield for a whole year , threw up minimum 6 times after a feed until 7 months , severe jaundiced , dropped weight centiles until 8 months . I had really bad pp anxiety and depression . The worst sleep deprivation and hallucinations . I can’t even look back at it . The reason I’m saying this is I’ve always wanted two or three kids . And now I’m questioning it because of those first few months . Did anyone have a really bad experience first time around but a different one next time around or was it worse . I remember at the time promising myself I’d never do it again . I just don’t know .
