One year old starting nursery

My daughter just started nursery and is finding it really hard to adjust. Shes been on her keyworkers lap the whole day and also has been refusing snacks and food offered. I’m feeling extremely anxious for her, can someone please tell me it gets better or any advise to ease them into nursery

My daughter just started a month ago and she was the exact same. I know it doesn’t feel it but it does gradually get easier for them and you. She will start to recognise the staff and when you hand her over each day she will know them. Keep goodbyes very brief on drop off. Even ask if you can send something of comfort with your baby, a blanket with your smell or a fave toy. Good luck, you’ve got this xx

My son clung to his keyworker when he first started at a similar age. In all the photos he was always on her lap not doing the activity!

He’s now almost 3 and they have the most gorgeous bond!

She’ll be fine I promise it just takes time it’s a huge adjustment for them x

It absolutely does get better, usually quite quickly too! Its just a shock to the system at first.

I have a couple of tips, i used to send my daughter in with my cardigan that i wore the day before so she had something that smelt like me and she could wrap it around her and join in (makes hilarious photos) i also have always sat at the end of the day and looked through the nursery pictures with her and talked positively about all the fun stuff she got up to, we also have a tagging system on our app so if another mum tags their child, you know their name which helped me help her to learn peoples names and tell her about people she seemed to spend the most time with.. i say stuff like 'ohh, you and Freddie were drawing together, hes doing red and you're doing orange, thats so cool! It looks fun!'

Hang in there, it will all work out soon xx

Yes. It does. Honestly…3 months at least to really settle. Perhaps more. I’d have done three full days rather than mornings. He LOVES it now and his social skills are so, so great!

If/when your child’s grandparent watches them, do they actually do things with them?? Like do they try to feed them healthy, brush their teeth, comb their hair, go on walks or to the park and play games?

I got back last night from a little weekend getaway, it’s the longest I’ve ever been away from my kids. Friday-Monday. Anyways, my mil begged to keep the kids and I let her for 3 of the days, but when I got home my oldest told me they watched tv the whole time.. and ate a ton of junk food, like I kept asking well okay what did you do besides watch tv and they just kept saying nothing 🫠 on top of that my 5 year olds curly hair was matted. And I’m just so.. ugh I’m just so annoyed. I also had a plan for the kids so they didn’t have to go over there, I only let them because she asked, but if you’re a grandparent you shouldn’t insist on keeping the kids if you’re going to do jack sh*t the whole time. It sucks that I feel like I can’t trust any of my kids grandparents to actually care for them responsibly. My oldest said that she brushed my youngests teeth “because Mimi didn’t do it”🫠 never again

How do you find time for your shows or hobbies?

Ive only got one child (24 months) and my partner and I pretty much never get to watch or do anything we like. He is a very intense child...he also will not go to sleep before 9 so we either have to stay up really late to do any of our stuff (as my partner does) or just clean up, shower, and bed (like me...i need sleep way more then him)
We have toddler cartoons on like teletubbies sometimes at home but he loses his shit if we try and put on our TV or regular channels. He will go and get the remote and shove it at us and cry until we put his stuff on...
I feel he's ruling the roost a bit now....because I have pretty low tolerance for constant moaning and crying and struggle to constantly come up with new activities that he won't break or make a total mess with

What to feel your child with Hand foot and mouth

I'm on the verge of tears, I feel like I'm going insane.

She says she's hungry, I get her food she doesn't want it, I make something else, she doesn't want it. Is been a recurring cycle all day.

I have followed the advice to give her soft bland foods and cool food but I don't know what to do anymore... I've tried porridge, mash potato, eggs, ice pop, yoghurt, mashed banana, scrambled eggs.

Then she screams and cries for icecream.

I have given her medicine to help.

Please any advice would be appreciated if you have been through this. Please share good recommendation.

Should I leave him?

My husband and I got married last November. I recently discovered that he has a porn addiction, and he admitted to it himself. While I understand many men are addicted to this, he took it a step further and has been sexting other women for the past two years.
I told him I feel like our marriage is a lie and we should never have went through with the wedding, had I known I wasn’t the only female he had eyes for.
We’re both in therapy now and I’m trying my best to trust him again, but it’s so hard. We have a four month old boy and he is the love of my life. I just want us to be a happy family, but this feels like something I can’t get past.
