Did you use soap? Did your partner come with you? Who looked after baby? What did you change into? Did you wash your scar? Did you just wash your lower body and avoid getting your scar or dressing wet? Did you use a shower seat? Stand? Did you shower before or after your catheter was removed?

Honestly I didn’t! I used adult body wipes and waited until I was home x

If youre not staying in hospital for a while I'd use wipes until you get home. I had a shower when I was in because I stayed for a couple of days, washed my upper body and legs. You can run water over your scar/ dressing but try not to get any soap on it. The dressing dries quick so dont worry about getting it wet! I'd use a seat if you can! The midwives encouraged me to shower after I had my catheter removed and the midwife had a cuddle with my baby whilst my partner helped me shower. I just got changed into some disposable underwear, comfy joggers and a tshirt x

I did the next day, once I could get up and walk around comfortably. You’ll have a bandage over the wound which can get wet. There was a chair in the shower but I stood up which I found a lot easier then trying to sit down.
You’re fine to use soap but I didn’t touch anywhere near my section when putting it on. Once the bandages are off when at home they tell you to not touch the wound with soap and just to let the water and soap run past it. You will want to wash your lower body as you will have bleeding.
My husband stayed with baby whilst I was having a shower.
You won’t be able to do it until the catheter is removed but they will remove it pretty soon after as they are keen to get you up and moving once have feeling back in your legs and they want you to go to the toilet too once you have feeling back.
I got dressed into my pjs after and it was one of the best showers ever as it was nice to feel refreshed and clean

After mine they wanted me to get up and try to use the bathroom/ walk after 12 hours. A support worker came to me on the 12 hour mark to remove the catheter and see if I'd like to try standing up, use the bathroom, have a shower. During this time she changed my bedding and watched babe for me! I had a normal shower and just avoided the dressing/ scar area. My partner came with me to the shower and helped me sit on the toilet, get up, dry my lower body and put nickers on! I also tried to get up as much as I could - without pushing myself - and I believe this really helped me with my recovery. The day after I got home I was walking around tesco ( like a snail 🤣) because I thought the longer I lay in bed and try not to move would make my recovery worse. ☺️ Everybody is different though x

Hi guys im due a baby boy in january and my partner wants to name him Leo after his best friend, the boy middle name was already set to Duncan for a boy (his uncle who has passed) but im not certain on Leo, i like the name and think its sweet and works but im not certain about the reasoning of it being his best mates name, however I also dont have any other boy name ideas so might go with the Leo Duncan because I do like the name, thoughts?

i’m 1 month post partum tomorrow. when giving birth i had forceps and an episiotomy (2nd degree). After giving birth i moved to the postnatal ward, i asked for stool softeners constantly throughout the day and didn’t actually receive them until about 12 hours later, so this resulted in haemorrhoids just to add to the discomfort i already had. anyway i felt like the pain was getting better in all aspects but the last week i’ve started to feel a lot of discomfort again in both areas.
Is it normal to still be really sore a month on? my check up with doctors isn’t until october 1st.
