Over the weekend my partner had a complete mental breakdown. He’s been struggling since the birth of our little boy who’s now 3 months old. I have a daughter from a previous relationship who’s 9 and they’ve always clashed to some extent. During my pregnancy he asked me to leave the home (it’s his house) so I moved back to my mums with her, as he struggled with her. He wanted to try and we moved back and after baby was born everything seemed great, there were a few arguments here and there but I just thought it was normal family life. I’ve been so wrapped up in our baby that I’ve neglected him and our relationship and didn’t see how bad he was struggling, I wish he had communicated to me. We haven’t shared a bed since baby was born as I do every night feed which was my choice. I’ve moved back to my mums and will see him on the weekend but I fear our relationship is over and I’m heartbroken. Has anyone ever been through anything like this and is there a way to come back together? I know he needs to focus on getting back to himself but I can’t imagine a life without him in the long term.

It is really hard in relationships after a baby arrives; I think we have all been there. He needs to accept this, and both of you need to find a balance.

Making a pregnant woman move homes is disgusting! I have had to do it myself and has been unbelievably stressful. I think you are being way too considerate of his feelings. You are the one doing night feeds, you are looking after another child and a newborn. Your body has been through the most extreme things it can ever go through! I am sorry if I sound harsh towards him but no postpartum mum should have to worry about the dads mental health when she is doing EVERYTHING

Personally I could never be with a man who didn't try with my first child.
It sounds like you need some time apart and he needs to address his mental health struggles and step up and become a father then a partner later

Probably controversial but he’s an adult and you haven’t “neglected” him whilst taking care of your newborn baby, your older child and yourself recovering post partum all whilst doing everything else too!
Making you move out when you’re pregnant with his child too is also disgusting.
It may feel awful atm but in the long run it sounds like you’ll be better off without him!

I was once your daughter. My mum introduced me to my stepdad around that age and we always clashed. Then they had a baby (my sister) but can I just say, I still resent my mum at 28 for putting me through that. No doubt she’s a good mum but she ruined my childhood by being with a man who cannot accept another man’s child as their own.
They’re divorced now but I just think, why did you go with a man who felt like that towards me? From age 11 onwards as I hit teenage years with hormones and everything else it got 100x worse for me. My mental health plummeted. Like your situation, it was his house so he called all of the shots.
As a mother myself I have had a child from broken relationship and I’ve also had another baby with my new partner. My new partner treats my firstborn like his own, he loves him just like he would his own child. That was the main thing I looked for in a partner because that’s all that matters to me.
So no, I don’t think it’ll work long term anyway.

Sorry but I don’t agree with his actions what so ever.
First red flag - clashing with your first born.
Your children should always come first before any relationship, if he can not make the effort to be nice, kind and a good role model to your first child why did you stay?
Secondly making you move out whilst pregnant because he’s struggling?
Relationships are essentially put on hold when you bring a baby into the world because your top priority (especially in the very beginning) is nurturing that little life you’ve created.
Relationships get put on the back burner for a bit and unfortunately either some relationships make it out of the first stage of parenting or they give up and call it quits.
This man sounds like a child.

Relationships take a hit when baby gets here it's just a fact. So please don't worry about that, you will get things back on track in time. Baby has to come first.
I'm really surprised he asked you to leave the home when you were pregnant? And have moved again when you have a 3 month old? Be honest with yourself is he actually being a dad right now because it sounds like to me he isn't doing any parenting? 🤷♀️
Men can go through a form of postnatal depression too and if this is what it is then he needs to be proactive and get help rather than essentially kicking you all out of the house.
He's also missing out on essential bonding time with your new baby. He won't get this time back...

My mom once dated a guy I didn't like. Like some mothers, she dated him anyway. I was a lot younger than 9. He told her, never settle with a man that tour kid didn't like. During that brief moment they had my sister. My ride or die so to speak. I'm thankful that I have her, but parents need to do better when picking partners and conversations need to be had before bringing someone into the mix. Was he introduced as your friend first and see if she warmed up to him?

With all due respect, why are you defending this man? Even in the comments? Stand up sis 😭
i might be crazy but honestly i'm not sure, her gums feel hard and she has been drooling a ton lately. she also has been getting super fussy and hasn't been eating as long / will refuse the breast at first. she has been eating her hand (but not in a hunger way) and will eat my arm, i am just very unsure.

I’d really appreciate your advice!
As we all know, nursery fees in the UK aren’t cheap, so I’m trying to understand how other nurseries handle this situation.
If your child is normally booked in 5 days a week, but you need to go abroad for 1–2 months, has anyone successfully reduced their nursery attendance temporarily to, say, 2 days a week, then returned to 5 days a week afterwards?
My understanding is that if I give the nursery the required notice, I can reduce the sessions and pay for the 2 days during that period. However, my nursery has said they cannot guarantee that my child’s original 5-day place will still be available when we return.
I’m struggling to understand this. If I’m giving the required notice, continuing to pay for 2 days, and the nursery is still receiving payment for those 2 days, why would my baby potentially lose his original 5-day place after being away for only a month?
I completely understand that the nursery may want to fill the other 3 days temporarily. But if they do, does that mean the nursery can effectively give those sessions to another child and then say my baby’s place is no longer available when we return?

I'm attending a birthday party for a family friend's baby who is turning one. Mum's a book worm so I'm assuming she has many many books for her son.
Does anyone have any good books i could gift that aren't popular so there is less chance she already has it😅
Thanks!x

God I need to rant. This might not make any sense I’m just going to type what I’m thinking. Bit of background, I’m 24 and my partner is 27, we fell pregnant after dating 3 months and then moved into together just before I gave birth. Everything was going swimmingly until that point, but since then I’ve had post partum depression, I’ve had a stalker, I found my partner sexting another girl, he found a somewhat flirty message on my phone and my partner has since been diagnosed with depression. He complains I don’t clean up enough, which I hold my hands up, I should do more. But I am the constant parent. Everyday during the week and weekends, I wake up during the nights for our little one , I wake up for her every morning and he gets to lay in ( when he’s not working) I look after her whilst he does football every weekend and then goes to the pub, I take her out on my own, I am the constant. He rarely has to look after our kid on his own and when he does, he goes straight to his nans because he can relax whilst she fusses and sees to the baby. Just recently, I went to an outdoor cinema/ party for the afternoon/ evening. My partner was at the football and went to the pub, so his aunt watched our baby. He got to theirs at 7-8 o’clock and then stayed until 10:30 to watching the boxing, so already her schedule was interrupted. I got a call on my way home I could hear our baby screaming in the background, he was having a meltdown saying he couldn’t cope and she wouldn’t settle. As I walked in the door she was screaming her head off and he said he’s never parenting on his own again. He had her for 1 hour that day. I understand he has depression but come on. My partner is off work at the moment for his mental health and has been for the last 1-2 months so he’s been around constantly. Still, I do all the night shifts, I wake up to feed her, I get her dressed ( because he doesn’t know what to put her in apparently, because it’s sooo hard????) I do it all. Tonight our baby was struggling to settle, and he was just laying there trying to get off to sleep. I was knackered too I had no sleep the night before, he said I’m tired too you’re not the only one. I said under my breath, I’ll sort her out then. This then led to an argument- apparently, according to him, waking up for babies during the night is ‘normally a mum thing to do’. I was honestly gobsmacked. I then asked him ok what’s the dad’s job then? He had no answer. I’m honestly just so drained of this relationship but I moved away from family to be with him, and I can’t go back I don’t have anywhere but here. If I had a place to go i would’ve left a long time ago because I feel like I’m not being respected enough for being a mum. I never get a break, even when I do I feel like I’m not being respected enough for what I do as a mum. And even for example, it’s my girls 1st birthday party coming up. I have planned it ALL, every single bit. He ordered the cake ( I asked him to do this) Because apparently party planning is stressful, when I was sorting the food out to order, his words ‘wow this is all so stressful’ - honestly I could’ve slapped him because he’s not done a single thing. Don’t get me wrong he absolutely loves our daughter to death but omg I just am sick and tired of being the constant, I feel so unrespected. Do I leave him? Or am I being unreasonable? I understand he has been suffering with his mental health, but at what point does it go past that and just pure selfishness?
