I want to stop co-sleeping 😭

I literally don't know what to do. I want to stop co-sleeping but it is a nightmare. As soon as I place my baby in his bassinet he'll start screaming bloody murder, or roll onto him belly and wake himself up, or sleep 30 minutes then wake up. It's a battle every night and eventually I'm exhausted and give up. He wins and gets to sleep next to mommy. I don't know what to do. 😭 He sleeps perfectly fine on his own for naps, just not at bedtime. Any advice?

my son was like this. he was a unicorn baby and slept through the night from birth until i stopped swaddling him at 6m. from 7-9/10m he was up every hour, every night. some nights i didnt even bother putting him in his bed, i just kept him with me and i even kept my shirt off so i didnt have to wake up to him feeding šŸ˜… it felt like forever but all of a sudden he just started sleeping again. especially when he got his own room, he was in a crib right across from me for 12m and then we made space for him to have his own room. hes 16m now and in a toddler bed and hes been back to sleeping through the night! hes also getting good at putting himself to sleep but im not rushing it. "it cant last forever" really got me through it.

So I'm going through the exact same thing right now with my 3 week old, the suggestions that I have been given is to build a night time routine bath bottle bed. Another suggestion that I had was put a shirt in there with your smell on it so the "dirty" shirt. So far what's worked for me is genuinely stepping out for a little bit and letting him tire himself out. If you're to the point where you're crying and you're getting frustrated and you're extremely tired sometimes it's best to just step away and let them cry it out.

Try the cot with holes between sticks right next to your bed, if he cries put your hand through and tap next to him like a heartbeat, or let him hold your finger, I did so with all my 3, and all 3 wanted to co-sleep with me or at least their dad, we had all 3 in different rooms, now they all sleep with just a bit of my presence in one room and it works perfectly šŸ‘Œ Is it dark enough in a room, is it plain enough not to overstimulate?

My baby was the same, around the same age when he was doing similar things. We only have a pack and play—no nice crib šŸ„ŗā€”but!!! The pack n play has a zipperšŸ˜ For a week or two, I would unzip it, shimmy myself in there enough so I could nurse him to sleep, and then shimmy myself out and zip it back up. IT WORKED!! The main goal was for him to have a positive, calming experience in the pack n play—that’s the first step away from co-sleeping and toward independent sleep. Baby steps!! After that, I would nurse to sleep, and then lay him down in the pack n play. Before I did the crazy shimmy thing, he would IMMEDIATELY wake up and PANIC. After the shimmy thing, he wouldn’t! He would wake up, but I’d pat him and sing until he fell back asleep. This would take awhile, anywhere from 10-30 minutes, BUT I felt it was worth it **because** once he entered a deep sleep, he would sleep for at least 5ish hours on his own. When we had been cosleeping, he’d sleep 6-7ish hours and then wake for a feed…

That sounds so hard!

I’m adding the link to the sleep book my husband and I used that helped a TON for my two littles—we followed the sleep recommendations from the beginning but it basically goes over sleep hygiene (how to create the best environment for sleep), bedtime routines, and how to handle it when baby cries and doesn’t want to be alone!

Break it down into the tiniest steps possible—pediatrician said ā€œno swaddling after 4 monthsā€ but when we unswaddled our son we did one arm out for a week with a mitten on, then two arms out but body swaddled for a week with mittens on, then sleep sack under swaddle for a week, then just sleep sack. That’s how slow we had to go!

If there are any of the sleep hygiene techniques in here that you aren’t using yet, start by adding them one by one during cosleeping OR naptime and then make the big change if you can! That way your physical presence being gone is the only ā€œchangeā€ he has to deal with!

You’ve got this!

Am I a bad mom

I let my son (4) watch videos while he’s going to sleep.
He gets put to bed at 7 and is never awake past 8.

My four month old is trying to stand

My baby just turned four months on the 20th. She hasn’t quite sat up by herself yet but every time she is in somebody’s lap or somebody’s holding her, she’s showing interest in wanting to stand up. When is a good time to get her one of those bouncing toys, I wasn’t sure if we should introduce it yet because she’s not sitting independently or not

Anxiety as a new mum

Has anyone got any advice. My newborn is 11 days old and I've been really struggling with anxiety about making sure he is OK, feeding schedules, waking through the night and a few other things. I'm seeking help but wondered if anyone can share their experiences?

Sleep Schedule and sleep positions

My baby has just turned three months and I want to start tracking her sleep during the day, does anyone use any apps that are free and they would recommend? I am not trying to sleep train her till next month but I know it will take a couple months to do so I am not worried, I just want to know she is getting the right amount of sleep now and when she is sleeping in case she has too much or too little, she slept last night from around eight ish till about eleven ISH if I remember and the half three ISH for a bottle then woke up at seven for another bottle, had a wiggle in the cot while I chilled out next to her, I have a cold and it's zap me or else I would interact with her, she got fussy around half seven I think and came for a cuddle and slept till ten ISH and then I had to go out on a important errand, which she napped in the car for about half an hour after crying all the way there which was overwhelming but I had to do it, then around two ISH we both slept till five ISH, as I said I am not well so she was in her cot and me in bed and then she asleep around half eight, I want to know this all correct for her age.
Also how does everyone elses three month old sleep position at the moment, I have a very wiggly baby so I won't use a blanket as she kicks it off and has started to grab, so she's in a sleep bag with arms because she can roll over, with great head control and now for the last few months has slept on her side even when I place her on her back then will slowly move around the cot, I always check her but seems alright, video so you see what she does

When did you give your baby their 1st bath?

I always thought you had to wait 2 weeks but chat gpt is saying you can do it whenever & even says you can bath WITH the cord still, which I thought you had to wait for? She’s currently a week old, her cord fell off on her 3rd day. Not sure when we should do it🄹
