Any suggestions ?

Mamas, this is all I currently have for my baby who is nearly 6 months old. I feel like she’s starting to get a bit bored of her toys. Any recommendations for things that have kept your little ones entertained?

I do read her books, and she does watch a little bit of TV (not for too long), but do you think that’s enough at this age? What kinds of things are your babies enjoying or playing with that keep them engaged?

My little one who is just over 6 months loves the crawling ball from vtech, he has started to army crawl 🤣 I guess toys that are more engaging for movement maybe? Also I have a jumperoo he doesn't sit in it for lengths of time but again it has movement and things he can explore and the seat spins.

I’ve bought the play mat with the keyboard at the feet which could be a little more interesting for them? The baby Einstein fish tank toy is supposed to be really engaging

I sang a lot of nursery rhymes at that age, put him in front of the washing machine or the window facing the garden, let him watch me do chores/shower/daily activities whilst talking him through what I was doing.

If you can get to stay and plays or library rhyme times you can try out other toys too without needing to buy/have them all at home.

If you have friends with same age babies, you could toy swap for a little bit too

We also had the crawling crab which was a big hit!

Still struggling myself to find toys but the one thing that I found helped keep him distracted more and for longer was rotating toys as if we give him the same stuff day in and day out he got super bored of the toys quicker and he loved books but just got to find what makes your little one happy as all baby’s are different. I took my little boy to the smyths shop so he could look at a few also

Fall from bed

This morning my husband got out of bed and I was more asleep still than usual. Our little one has become more mobile and somehow managed to roll off of the bed between the bed and nightstand. It’s about 2ft and we have carpet. He’s about 6 months old, rolling, now somewhat crawling.

I heard it immediately got him and he barely cried. As soon as I picked him up he was smiling and giggling. He has been eating, looking at us, grabbing and kicking all like normal.

I don’t see any bumps or bruises and he seems generally okay and unbothered by the entire incident.

My husband is very upset that we let him fall. He isn’t directly blaming me but I know I’m the one who failed our son. The guilt is overwhelming and I feel sick to my stomach. He keeps saying things like “now anytime something is wrong we’re going to think it it’s because when he fell” which makes me more upset 😭

I’m going to call his pediatrician but has this happened to other moms? Please don’t join this to just make me feel worse, I’m already very down on myself about it.

Am I the asshole

So there’s a restaurant near where I live that has a kids play attached to a seating area upstairs , there’s 5 signs around saying “ you MUST supervise your children at all times in the play area , adults must remove shoes too “ and two signs in the seating area saying not to leave children in the play area alone while you eat / drink.
This is a very small area too so it’s not hard to just sit on a block and watch.
But unfortunately as it’s attached to a seating area parents take the opportunity to go and sit and eat and let their kids play

I was there with my 2 year old and he was running around having fun with some other kids when a bunch of older kids come running in with a couple younger ones , the older ones were grabbing the younger ones and pushing them down the slide. One got one younger one in a head lock and another was kicking her ! I told them to get off her and I was going talking to their mother.

I asked the parents that was there who’s kid they was and it was non so I went out the play area and she was the only one sat there with her head in her laptop and her headphones on watching a YouTube video ! I went over and said excuse me you’re suppose to supervise your children not your laptop , one is in a headlock being kicked in the head crying.
She started to apologise but she said “ no one had said nothing before “ like so she knows she’s suppose to but doesn’t care ?? I just said people like you are the reason I don’t come here. ( True I avoid going due to the fact parents don’t watch their freaking kids in there )

Admittedly I was sick of it by this point and i definitely lost my cool a little with her so am I the asshole for not just going getting her politely as I had done before

Earlier this year, Co-op Academies Trust introduced a trousers-only policy from September. However, some parents are refusing to accept the change. Several pupils arrived at Co-op Academy Failsworth for the new academic year wearing skirts

What are your thoughts on this? 👖

Do (All) your family members get along ?

I have some family who can’t stand each other. We have awkward family gatherings. There’s time some refuse to show up if another is expected to attend. I was wondering how common this is.

Annoyed at husband

Am I right to be annoyed? My husband went to work this morning. He then told me he was going for a lunch with someone at 1 pm and would come home from there, he said he’d be home a bit earlier than normal, probably 4 or 4.30. He came home at 5.15pm, he’s taking 45 minutes to an hour before he actually comes to take over care of the baby. The way I see it he’s just had a whole afternoon of having a nice lunch and probably having some drinks while I’ve been looking after the baby. He shouldn’t need 45 minutes to an hour when he gets home before he takes over. Am I right to be annoyed? he’s taking the time to go to the toilet, roll his tobacco, listen to a podcast in his office…. Etc
