MIL naked infront of 2 year old daughter

I think its a difference in culture mainly but my MIL is very open in this sense and it makes me feel uncomfortable. She goes to the toilet infront of my daughter too and I really dont know how to feel about it. On one hand its educational, on the other hand I find my MIL quite unhygienic in general. Recently my partner has had to tell his Mum off for handling my daughters food with her hands after smoking, without washing her hands. And just smoking around her in general. My daughter can eat with cutlery and is doing well in general in her developments but I find my MIL still treats my daughter like a small baby and teaches her naughty things like mean faces, swear words, and generally teaching her to be mean to others. And other bad habits like watching youtube videos on her phone. This is just a few issues…

Its hard to realise when Im over reacting vs just being generally frustrated with my MIL.

Honestly with the way my MIL is, if I didnt know her personally, shes the type of person youd keep your kid away from in public… she has a dirty smokers cough, never wears a bra… just generally looks unkept. Not to be drastically rude. She has some good traits and is generally very caring but most of the time that care can be overbearing.

Girl, you’re not wrong. 😭 I’d separate the cultural differences from the actual boundary issues because those are two very different things. Going to the bathroom in front of a child isn’t automatically a problem, but smoking around her and then handling her food without washing your hands afterward? Absolutely fucking not. That’s a hygiene and safety issue, not a cultural difference. And if she’s teaching your daughter swear words, mean behavior, or things you’ve specifically said you don’t want her learning, you have every right to shut that shit down. Grandma can have her own relationship with her grandchild, but she still needs to respect the parents’ boundaries.

I personally wouldn’t have a problem with the nakedness and going to the toilet (assuming shes showing good toileting habits) unless my daughter felt uncomfortable but at 2 i doubt they would express that, the unhygienic things tho, yes your not overreacting but its good your partner has bought it up to her and he should keep correcting until she fixes up

Why is she purposely teaching a 2 year old swear words? Your MIL is a bloody idiot 🤦🏽‍♀️

Sorry but the issues you described she would not be having any relationship with my child. Not to mention if she’s doing all this now, she’ll only ramp up her awful behaviour as your child gets older. Absolute wally.

I wouldn't have an problem with most of what you said. Honestly by watching is how kids learn so seeing her use the bathroom teaches her how to be potty trained. The being naked teaches how to feel comfortable in her body and seeing the difference will show her as her body will change as she gets older. But the hygiene thing i would have an huge fight over it. The teaching to be mean as well, but you can teach her not to be mean and hopefully it turns into her being kind and sticking up sticking up for herself. The bad words thing i can't say anything. But I curse like a sailor in front of my kids all their lives f think fk that shit and m'er this and that. I never had an issue with them cursing even to other ppl and I have an autistic kid too. The worse they say is stupid and they catch each other and say ooo...

Nursery Query

Hey!
I’m just wondering about sending my boys to a nursery. They’re 6 months old twin boys and I’m so uncertain on what to do. Like, do I even go back to work or do I stay home and just be skint or do I go back to work. If I do send them nursery what’s the process for this? What’s the monthly cost going to look like for both to be in nursery 4/5 days a week. My partner is a high school teacher but in a different area so sometimes the school holidays don’t sync up. I do have my mother in law who will have them every now and again, same with my mum. My mind is spinning hahaha

Am I Rude because I don’t feel like it 😂

Can anyone tell me why people feel so entitled to not RSVP and still think they can show up let alone with their friends or their children’s friends who you don’t know . My family is crying and throwing a sissy fit because I sent this message but quite frankly I don’t see anything rude about it since I’m spending MY money to throw an event

Another episode of - is he cheating:

General vibes over the years - seems to exit out of what he was looking at on his phone when I come in the room, has the opportunity with “work dinners” and things, found a hair tie in his car one time. I know that sounds bad, but no one who knows him would think he’s capable of it, and I’ve always chalked it up to my own anxiety and insecurities.

Yesterday I found a necklace.

Discreet box, ordered to the house, last night he unboxed it, put the nice cloth bag in his backpack, and left for work with that this morning. (Yes I know this bc I was snooping) A quick google shows it was a Very expensive necklace.

Took everything I had not to ask about it, but I’m waiting until this evening to see if it’s still in his backpack or not. He could be hiding it and giving it to me at some point but idk.

Thoughts?

Am I wrong for wanting to leave?

My fiance has depression along with other conditions and it’s just a lot at the moment. This year has been a lot for us emotionally and financially but Its like he’s always getting on at me, looking for arguments, going through my phone, monitoring where I am etc. I can’t even have a social life! It was my close friends 25th at the beginning of the month and I missed it even though it was from 7 till late all because he hid the keys and said no. He doesn’t even trust me around gay men like I am trying but it’s becoming draining! I don’t want to be with him anymore but I feel bad for feeling this way 😔 when I spoke to my work friends they spoke as if this is what relationships are not always as fun especially when you’re older and that I shouldn’t nitpick so much because he’s going through a rough patch. Problem is I feel like I always get the bad end of the stick every single depressive episode!

I have been at my parents the last week almost and I feel even MORE stressed because he’s always texting me accusing me of cheating or doing something behind his back. We havent been engaged long now but gosh I want to cancel it already
