Anything I can do or not

I went into work to talk about my return to work, which is when my baby is 8 months old. I did three full days and half a day before the mat leave. Well I went back and I can only do three days now and instead of 7.30am till 6pm, I need to change my hours to 8am till 5pm, work have said the can't promise me those hours and they had to reject other people returning because they can't do the hours they need. I am not doing the original hours before mat leave, the reasons
I have to commute to work and it takes half an hour on a good day....
My husband could be on site all day and not be back till 7pm, I need to start dinner, bathe my baby etc
I'm not 100% sure I finish at six bang on because of problems at work, we have a thing at work where we can't go till everyone is ready to go
I am not asking to be a pain, I am asking for actual reasons, I was going to leave but found out I was pregnant when I was looking, I can't always have help from my husbands parents because they are in their 70s, my parents can't do it as my mum is disabled and my dad is her carer. I have no one else that can look after the baby, then my husband's job has started to get busy and he is out on site most of the time, he can't get another job because he has job security where he is and the pay is great, why go somewhere that pays less and he's not got that safety. I wont go back till I get the hours I need but will I win the fight? Thinking of a Union to help.
My boss was like we all got family, I know but I will never let my baby do a full day at my work it's something I am not willing to bend on and yes I work at a nursery.

I think your request is reasonable. I would take it further. I can't believe how hard some workplaces make it for a small bit of flexibility

Hi,

I used to work in HR and now work in the same field but in a separate role. From 6 April 2024, changes were made to Flexible Working Legislation; the main changes being that a. You are now allowed 2 requests a year b. It is a day one right c. Employers MUST respond within 2 months and d. You no longer have to write a business case (how your request would impact the business).

Your employer has 8 legal reasons why they can reject your request (check ACAS for more information). If your employer is unable to accommodate your requested working pattern, they can no longer outright reject it. Instead, they have to have a meeting with you to discuss options/alternatives- this all falls within the 2 month response window.

If you are unhappy with the solution at this meeting, you can appeal; again, this needs to be done within the 2 month response window.

Your best bet would be to contact Maternity Action or Working Families and see if there are any resources there which may be able to help you further ☺️

Please yall I desperately need some sense spoken into me.

My baby is 5 month 2 weeks and since before he was born I’ve been living in a single mom maternity home. I came to the home 20 weeks pregnant and since 25 weeks me and baby dad been tryna see if we can fix what was messed up. Anyways that would be going good, then go bad , then go good , then go bad. At month 3 of baby being born we stopped talking . Everything, so I just been handling and caring for baby on my own while he barely checks up on baby . Fast forward we spoke again and it seem like it was aight , then he met up with me and told me he currently living with his situationship at the moment..,🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴, he said he told me because he didn’t want our foundation to be set up on a lie and he had to tell me this way before it blew up . And now basically he kinda piggy backed off her , and how he don’t really like her but when he was having a tough time “without “ me she kinda filled that void , but supposedly it nothing to what we “have” , and how he really wants to be with me and he knows he “fd” up. He knows since he told me there now may never be a chance between us. He asked me how I feel , and I told him idk , to be honest , how tf is that something to come back from…. Mind you I have his child and he won’t even pick up his phone around her. He has TWO. phones now . One she gave him, and his regular, but he never keep his regular. He said , if I’m willing to get a place with him, he’ll drop the situation right away, but to be honest wtf does that make me ? (Please answer) i need the BRUTAL truth . At first yesterday i said f the whole situation, but now today i feel myself upset about it cause how could you. I’m taking care of our child every night in and day while you just living life having a ball ? Quite honestly if my child was hurt rn, he wouldn’t even know until he checks his phone . Am I wrong or bitter for just cutting him out the picture completely? How do I handle this. ? Idk what to feel and have no one to talk to about this. Please

Just a late night thought because apparently this is what I think about at 2am 😂

I think one of the hardest parts about trying to make mom friends on here is that you just don’t know who you’re actually going to vibe with from a profile 😅

I’m super down to earth, go with the flow, homebody/cozy type of person. I don’t need to be doing something all the time. I’m perfectly happy sitting in the house with coffee, talking about random stuff, laughing, letting the kids play, whatever lol. So I feel like I’d struggle trying to build a friendship with someone who is super serious all the time or has a completely different vibe than me.

And then I think being in a similar stage of life matters too. I’m 32, married, and have 4 kids, one with special needs, might I add. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be friends with someone younger or with one baby, but realistically we might just be in two completely different places in life. They might still want to go out and party and I’m over here genuinely excited about my pumpkin spice creamer in the morning 😂

I think I want a friend who just…gets it. Someone I don’t have to explain my whole life to because they understand the season I’m in. And that’s so hard to tell from a profile.

And then sometimes the conversation just…dies 😅 Not even because anything happened, but it starts feeling like one person is carrying it or you realize you just don’t naturally click. I think that’s what makes trying to make friends on apps so awkward.

Does anyone else feel like finding people you actually click with is the hardest part?

Anybody wanna be friends?

Does anybody really want friends?? I’ve been in here forever and I’m just looking for some friends! I’ve moved here a year ago and it’s hard to find and do things in Winston. But it would be nice to have my own best friend!

3rd anniversary leather gift

I’m struggling what to buy my husband for our third anniversary - it’s leather, so obviously thoughts a belt but that’s just a bit boring.

Has anyone got any advice or ideas please? 😫😫 (yes I have gone through Google and Etsy lol)
