Naps and wake times

How seriously should we be taking nap times and wake times? My LO is 12 weeks old and I take her wake times seriously but so much so that I will stay home all day because I want her to nap properly given how short the wake windows are. My partner takes them lightly, and says she’ll sleep on the go (idk how when she hates her pram and will only sleep if I babywear.) Am I overcomplicating things or is he underestimating things?

My kids have always come along with me and napped when tired. I’m not about to be chained to the house for nap/ bedtime. Both sleep great on the go now.

If you get them used to dark quiet naps at home you’ll be chained to them for years to come x

Hiya. Hope you don’t mind me answering. I'm training in infant sleep and honestly generic wake times are not that useful. They’re an average across loads of babies rather than your own baby. And before the 4 month sleep regression it really doesn't matter how long their awake for or how long they nap for. Just let them sleep when they're tired. Naps in a sling are totally fine, especially if it means you can get out the house. But I know that's easier said then done if you're worried they won't sleep

At about 6 months, taking nap times more seriously definitely has its benefits but for now, just letting them sleep when their tired is totally fine.

I have an insta post on wake windows here that explains why you shouldn't take them that serious. But feel free to DM if you want more info. But also I won't be offended if you want to totally ignore me 😂

We did maybe 50% naps on the go until about 9 months when they became a bit more ‘serious’ for our boy x

It’s never a one size fits all, if his way doesn’t work out you can stick to indoor naps if you wish. Mine (now 2y) has always napped best in a bed when indoors and in the carrier while out. We still plan certain outings around her nap and that works fine for us. She hasn’t slept in the buggy or in the car seat since before 1yo, completely refuses any time I’ve tried will just stay awake and end up overtired.

Honestly we just let our LO sleep when he wanted to sleep, he is now 16 weeks almost 17 and will quite literally sleep anywhere!
We never did silence or white noise or pitch black room for any sleep just dimmed lights for night time and it’s honestly worked in our favour as he will sleep no matter if we’re out somewhere or round someone’s house, we did make it a point to put him down as a newborn for naps in different places so he didn’t get attached to one single place and could be diverse in sleeping places🤷🏻‍♀️

On baby number 2 and definitely prefer the 'on the go' method- they might complain and shout about a pram nap but almost always drop off l, and if not I just take the sling with me so I have the option of baby wearing when I am out- my toddler has always been great at napping on the go, and I am hoping my little girl will be the same 🤞

Both my kids slept on the go and happily slept in their cots when at home. Before 6mo I would let them sleep anywhere when they were tired. However as they got older we noted when they were tired and let them sleep pretty much wherever but we did and still do have a rule of the “5pm danger zone” so when it’s 5pm and they’re still sleeping they get woken up so we can still do a 8pm -ish bed time.

Gamer husband help

My husband works during the week and I’m on mat leave. I start my LO bedtime routine at 8pm and she needs to be held to sleep (she’s 12 weeks) so basically my bedtime has now become the same as hers. During the week he doesn’t get up at night to help with the baby because of work and he needs his rest but on the weekends he stays up all night playing video games and will complain that he couldn’t sleep.

I feel like if he’s up anyway, he could help with putting her to sleep but since she’s EBF, he will use the excuse that he can’t feed her so he can’t. Is it fair for me to be upset about this?

Edit: will also add that on weekends , he will wake up around 2pm but then will spend a few hours with her and encourages me to do something for myself. But it’s the nights that get me!

Car seat problems!

Hey everyone,

I have just bought the Joie GTI spin car seat for my 10 month old but having major issues with her head leaning forward when she falls asleep…

I’ve got the reclining back on the car seat as much as it will go, and think that the head rest is at the right level.

Does anyone else have this problem and know what I can do about it? or whether it is just the car seat in general?

Thank you x

Did I take this the wrong way.

So I’m 8 weeks pregnant. My youngest just turned 1 August 10th I also have a 7 yr old 4 yr old and a 2 yr old. I told my mom I was pregnant only because eventually she would notice. But yesterday she said something that bothered me then tried to flip it. Basically she was like “ the nurse told you your last pregnancy that your body was under stress because you keep having babies back to back “ “ I hope this one doesn’t kill you “ I hope this one doesn’t take you out “ so it didnt dawn on me till she hung up the phone . in my mind I’m like that’s really fucked up to say. She says I took it in the wrong context but how??? I told her actually by her saying that I could be very traumatized worrying about if I’m going to die or not. She’s like “ well I’m traumatized because of what the nurse told you last yr “ like wtf now it’s about her. Please share your thought.

Naps

When do babies get “set” nap times. I know they will be slightly difference but not sure when they get into a routine

stroller for 5 months old

My 5-month-old son doesn't want to lie in the carrycot during walks because he wants to see more of what's going on around him. He isn't sitting up yet, so I’d prefer not to put him in a sitting position. Is it okay to place him in the stroller seat if it’s fully reclined?
