My baby girl is almost 11 weeks old and over the last week or so her false starts at night have gotten worse! Once she is asleep at night she generally only wakes once or twice for a little feed, but it can take hours to get to that point.
I just want to soak it all up so the ‘1 nap a day in the bassinet’ hasn’t been happening consistently, so I know this is the first thing to start doing.
At bedtime (whatever that is 🥴) I am feeding, changing, and rocking her to sleep and then transferring - which again, I know isn’t helping the false starts.
I just cannot let her get so upset/distressed before sleeping! How do I make these changes without just leaving her to work out that she needs to sleep?
Any tips would be much appreciated!

She is literally 11 weeks old..my 6.5 month old has only just started having consistent bedtimes, sleeping through & is no longer rocked or cuddled to sleep. You aren’t making a rod for anything, by carrying on rocking her to sleep. You aren’t making a rod for anything by enjoying every contact nap.
If she wakes up after an hour or has a ‘false start’ as you say then maybe she wasn’t quite ready for bedtime and then she needs more awake time to get back to sleep hence why she’s getting upset when you’re trying to get her straight back to sleep.

You aren’t making a rod for your own back girly. She’s 11 weeks old this is incredibly normal ❤️
My firstborn refused to sleep himself from day 1. He’s now 3 and still every so often climbs into my bed to cuddle at night. He still needs me to lay beside him until he falls asleep too!! He’s glued to my side whenever he’s awake 😂
My daughter is almost 5 months old and she sleeps herself all the time.
I’ve done nothing different between the two.
Some babies just need more comfort than others. Keep holding your baby and if you need to snuggle her then safely transfer if that works that’s okay!!!

Just cuddle her! My 3 year old still wants cuddles to sleep and she will get them until she doesn't want them. My 5 month old will fall asleep on his own but if he wants he will be rocked too.
Don't rush to put them down mama xx

My advice is if you’re becoming very sleep deprived I’d look into safe co sleeping if it gets to the point you genuinely can’t transfer her and can’t get a sleep. It worked wonders with my boy for a few months ❤️

You’ve not done anything wrong. I won’t repeat the other advice here because it’s all good but yeah don’t let anyone tell you you’ve done something wrong or made a rod for your own back. They are still TINY little humans who need you and your comfort x
Thanks all! I think I’ve let the health visitor get in my head about independent sleeping/settling - they make it sounds so normal?!
You’re right, she’s just a tiny person! My lil gal will continue to be cuddled to sleep 🫶🏼

Sleep coach here - if it helps, at this age false starts are likely to be developmental - they have super short sleep cycles :)
If they carry on for a few weeks, try leaving it a little longer for bedtime - 24 hour sleep needs drop around 4 months and this can be as much as up to two hours.
You are not making a rod for your own back by cuddling or rocking or feeding her to sleep - I promise! ❤️

Sounds like a sleep regression, just need to endure, dont blame yourself x

My 16 month old still wants a cuddle to go to sleep. Don’t worry in the slightest, they’re 11 weeks old, it’ll come if you want it to. One thing I’ve learnt is to not force anything x
My husband works during the week and I’m on mat leave. I start my LO bedtime routine at 8pm and she needs to be held to sleep (she’s 12 weeks) so basically my bedtime has now become the same as hers. During the week he doesn’t get up at night to help with the baby because of work and he needs his rest but on the weekends he stays up all night playing video games and will complain that he couldn’t sleep.
I feel like if he’s up anyway, he could help with putting her to sleep but since she’s EBF, he will use the excuse that he can’t feed her so he can’t. Is it fair for me to be upset about this?
Edit: will also add that on weekends , he will wake up around 2pm but then will spend a few hours with her and encourages me to do something for myself. But it’s the nights that get me!

Hey everyone,
I have just bought the Joie GTI spin car seat for my 10 month old but having major issues with her head leaning forward when she falls asleep…
I’ve got the reclining back on the car seat as much as it will go, and think that the head rest is at the right level.
Does anyone else have this problem and know what I can do about it? or whether it is just the car seat in general?
Thank you x

So I’m 8 weeks pregnant. My youngest just turned 1 August 10th I also have a 7 yr old 4 yr old and a 2 yr old. I told my mom I was pregnant only because eventually she would notice. But yesterday she said something that bothered me then tried to flip it. Basically she was like “ the nurse told you your last pregnancy that your body was under stress because you keep having babies back to back “ “ I hope this one doesn’t kill you “ I hope this one doesn’t take you out “ so it didnt dawn on me till she hung up the phone . in my mind I’m like that’s really fucked up to say. She says I took it in the wrong context but how??? I told her actually by her saying that I could be very traumatized worrying about if I’m going to die or not. She’s like “ well I’m traumatized because of what the nurse told you last yr “ like wtf now it’s about her. Please share your thought.

How seriously should we be taking nap times and wake times? My LO is 12 weeks old and I take her wake times seriously but so much so that I will stay home all day because I want her to nap properly given how short the wake windows are. My partner takes them lightly, and says she’ll sleep on the go (idk how when she hates her pram and will only sleep if I babywear.) Am I overcomplicating things or is he underestimating things?

When do babies get “set” nap times. I know they will be slightly difference but not sure when they get into a routine
